RPG Maker based Anon vs Scilons - Work in Progress

Yes faggots, I'm doing it!

I just got into RPG maker again (played with '95 back in the day, now I have RPG maker XP) and this is going to be sweet! Right now I just started on this yesterday and I'm just screwing around and getting up to speed on all the new features. Right now mainly just making items and spells and weapons for the game and importing music and lulzy sounds. The graphics shown are just the game builtins that I am using as placeholders until I get to the point where I can start finding graphics to throw in. No face fagging will be involved (well except for the scilons).

Here is what I was screwing around with just a moment ago when testing out the battle features of the game. I'm hoping to have at least February playable by August protest time. I'll likely put a playable demo up on Megabuttload around that time. It won't be perfect but it will be a good start.









Eventually I may need to get some help from some anon artfags to do some character graphics. I'll post more info about the game in the second post.

Ok, more info, wanted to not flood the initial post and let you lulz away at the pictures.

My plans for this are to make a meme filled silly game where you attend protests around the world on the various protest theme days. Aside from the lulz, there will also be massive amounts of educational stuff about scientology. During each "month" of protests as you work through the game, you'll learn about stuff related to that month's protest theme.

As you advance you'll find better and better equipment that will match the progressing themes we have had so far. There will be lots of cameos of scilons or anons or OG that have been particularly funny or active in the movement. No rock starring or hero worship though, everyone in the game will get picked on to some degree but I'll try to keep it parody style funny and not personally insulting.

Basicly in the game you will start out in a city, protest until you have enough experience and whatnot to take on the boss in the org. There's a lot that can go right or wrong in the process.

Among things that can happen to your characters status wise are:

Running out of "Anon" which are your HP. - Makes you namefagged. To get un namefagged (resurrected) you have to find the local hacker in town and have him delete the scientology files on the namefagged anon. Later in the game you might get hacking skills of your own to undo some of the bad things like this.

Magic is replaced by trolling and you have TP or troll points. Some conditions can leave you unable to troll, namely the "Butthurt" status (acts a mute), which wears off after a few turns.

Enturbulated is what I use for the confused status which makes the victim attach their own side until it wears off.

Lulz - Sometimes the scilons will do something stupid which can leave you in a state of lulz causing you to lose a turn from laughing uncontrollably.

Banned - Acts like paralyze, wears off due to chance or an unbanning hack. Is undone at end of battle.

Vanned - Higher level scilons, mostly bosses can baww to the cops (one of their spells) and get a player vanned. The game treats you as dead but you can use a get out of jail card if you have one handy or go to the station and pay to bail them out to get them back on the team. Vanning has a low chance of success but sucks when it happens unless you stock up on hard to find Get out of Jail cards.

Nerd Rage - A rage spell, you can't control the character while raged, but he hits harder but can take more damage since he isn't protecting himself as much. Note you aren't really using violence per se in this game, your attacks are mainly troll spells (Like the rick roll) and protest signs/chants or chalkings which make them butthurt (temp loss of OT powers) and cost them hit points.

Game Face - Using psych drugs or alcohol puts on your game face and you can give and take more punishment. But your trolling and spells are less effective.

There are other fun thing too such as variety of protest signs and gear. Masks, costumes and "bling" such as wigs and jewelry to disguise yourself act as armor to protect your anonymity. Some of the items both help and hinder you. Like the V mask reduces your dexterity a little due to limiting vision despite adding some protection against namefagging. The fursuit head protects you from hot coffee since it encloses your whole head, but cuts your trolling ability by half. Stuff like that.

I hope to have at least a somewhat playable (maybe feb or march) version of this by the time of the protest. It won't be finished by then, but I should have a decent start on it and a playable demo for people to test out and give feed back on.

i love this idea, as for art faggotry i can draw problem is i work full time and my scanner is down. If i can get it working in time i would like to know what you're looking for, manga or over the top. What kind of chars you need like femanons (they obviously have to be hot maybe a little s&m) guy anons, any disguises of paticulare interest. Also i should warn you any scilon leader may come out looking like an annoying little dwarf.

This explains how characters must be laid out in the images for movement and what the max dimentions of artwork for various uses is. I'll have a better idea of specific needs in the next couple weeks. Right now just concentrating on making the underlying game mechanics and will start replacing the built in graphics with anon specific stuff when ready, then will tweak to make everything look good. I'll post more info about art needs in about 2 weeks probably and then people can step up if they want to and fill them in.

okay I looked do i have to use computer graphics cause i don't think i have anything like that on my computer and until i fugure out why it's gone hal 3000 on me i would rather not upload. Can i just use paper and pencil and upload it and give the results to you? I'm still working on my scanner.

Well let's not jump the gun, I don't have a list of what I need done yet. Creative shooping may fill in most of my graphics needs.

Just found out I can use background as the bad guy in certain circumstances and and that I can use an invisible enemy marker over it so you look like you are hitting the thing in the picture. In this example it is Tom Cruise's face.

This is win, man. Anyone else thinking we should hit the big RPG Maker/indie game sites with this when it's done?

Say, any way to change EXP to WINS or something? You know, you have to get so much WIN in order to level up...?

And it so needs a part of the storyline or something in which the party travels to the Thunderdome. Or is that the equivalent on an inn where the party goes to recover Anon and Troll Points?

I've played around with rpgmaker 2003, confusing at times...

can any artistic ones make better sprites and enemies and stuff?
