Can't help with *graphics* or *musics* but other things maybe.

a few quick suggests:

* If skilz or statz are low, the attack (from you or the CoS) may critically fail and become a footbullet.

* IRL anons don't have "Troll Points". They have "LULZ".

* LULZ regenerate slowly over time- more quickly from eating delicious cake.
Or when Scilons try to rickroll. And when they shoot footbullets.

* A namefagged anon is a sad anon, who cannot regenerate LULZ naturally.

* Wearing a Tom Cruise mask or DM mask may confuse the Scilons temporarily
and give you a short duration 'Anon' stat boost, even for namefagged Anons

* Not every shop is friendly. Spending jewgolds at an unfriendly shop may
hurt your 'Anon' stat. Watch out for "Anonymous Unwelcome" signs!

* You could add some CoS "tech" and make the entire game nonviolent.
Anons have "Anon stat" for HP.
Scilons have "Tone scale" - when all their thetans fall out they become normal people (JUST LIKE IRL EX-SCN )
Tone < 1.0 enemies might flee, or become paralysed;
or vulnerable to new forms of attack.
Anonymous with very low Anon stat, may also have new vulns.

* Any media (sound, graphics) that aren't embedded in game files-
could be available in an optional separate download.
e.g. 100mb of MP3s shouldn't need to be downloaded again every time.
But some prefer to grab one big file instead of lots of little ones.

I like the online idea of it... but really not much point in making it online if there's only going to be a few hundred playing...

I suggest our online game activities should be focussed upon raiding or whatever (like make a massive group of people that just appepar out of nowhere causing enturbulation...)

It's not going to be "online" as in MMORPG. It's single player, you download and play it, like old school Final Fantasy. Only with scilons and lulz.

plus the scilons might be confused with online MMO's with characters needing "better stats" and whatnot... hehe

i can just imagining DM playing WoW with a gnome rogue (with engineering ofc, so he can squirrel tech) getting cursed or something...

I'll try to put up a demo video maybe sometime next week, when things are looking better, but I might have to wait until I return home and have tripod handy. Unless someone knows good screen filming software.

Still making progress, slower going than I had hoped but I've been busier than I expected.

Some critiques:

Hp should just be HP. This is an RPG tradition, you shouldn't violate it, and "Anon" as a measure of points just sounds wierd.

Namefagging should be remedied by item "Internet Tubes" or something. Every game has a Phoenix Down item, and going to town to revive is a LOT harder than you would think, although I don't know how difficult you plan to make it.

I think it should be a little more RPG-minded, instead of just going about protesting, it should be a fantasy situation where David Miscavige is like, the demon lord that you are on an epic journey to defeat. You can visit a few real life cities to free them from his minions, but making a game about protesting strikes me as incredibly boring.

Similar to the above critique, take a little artistic license with it, you don't have to stick so close to RL.

Currency: Neoshekels (Lol Charles Barkley Gaiden)
EXP: Lurk points

People from the internet should help out, but try to avoid real people, for sake of celebfagging. People could be summons, though, that wouldn't be so bad.

Magic is replaced by trolling and you have TP or troll points. Some conditions can leave you unable to troll, namely the "Butthurt" status (acts a mute), which wears off after a few turns.

Enturbulated is what I use for the confused status which makes the victim attach their own side until it wears off.

Lulz - Sometimes the scilons will do something stupid which can leave you in a state of lulz causing you to lose a turn from laughing uncontrollably.

Banned - Acts like paralyze, wears off due to chance or an unbanning hack. Is undone at end of battle.

Vanned - Higher level scilons, mostly bosses can baww to the cops (one of their spells) and get a player vanned. The game treats you as dead but you can use a get out of jail card if you have one handy or go to the station and pay to bail them out to get them back on the team. Vanning has a low chance of success but sucks when it happens unless you stock up on hard to find Get out of Jail cards.

Nerd Rage - A rage spell, you can't control the character while raged, but he hits harder but can take more damage since he isn't protecting himself as much. Note you aren't really using violence per se in this game, your attacks are mainly troll spells (Like the rick roll) and protest signs/chants or chalkings which make them butthurt (temp loss of OT powers) and cost them hit points.

Game Face - Using psych drugs or alcohol puts on your game face and you can give and take more punishment. But your trolling and spells are less effective.


So,

Butthurt = Silence

Enturbulation = Confusion

Lulz = ??? (Stun, maybe?) Ideally, Lulz should be a positive condition, like Regen or Barrier/MBarrier or something.

Banned = Paralyze/Stun

Vanned = ??? (Psuedodeath?) Should = Stone or Petrified. Unable to take action without specific item/spell remedy, counts as dead (if entire party is dead or petrified = game over), wears off at end of battle.

Nerd Rage = Berserk

Game Face = ??? Not really sure, some games have phys up, but not really as a condition. I guess closest thing would be Hero Drink or Fury (from FF7).



Suggestions:
Change Vanned as above
Change Lulz to Barrier. Your amusement at the situation reduces the Scilon's trolling effectiveness!
Lolwut?: The sure incredulity of the scilon's attack leaves you in a baffled stupor. (Sleep condition, no control, wears off after a few turns or when physically attacked)

Also, ideally, you should be able to inflict these same status effects on the scilons, so maybe a namechange from Banned and Nerd Rage are in order?
Also, needs a Bio/Venom/Poison effect, but I can't think of anything.

Game Face is obviously caused by Steroids. Allows you to hack much better, at the downside of being vulnerable to dogs and curtains.


Dogcurtains: Cures Game Face status.
Lulzvial: Esuna item. Cure-all
Cat: Restores Nerd Rage status
Free Candy: Restores Vanned status
Proxy: Restores Banned status
(Alternatively: IPconfig (hack): Restores Banned status)
Target (Stay on it!): Restores Enturbulated status
TL;Dr Post: restores Butthurt status


Bottled Water: Ether Item (restores MP)
Slice of Pizza: Potion item (small HP)
Whole Pizza: Hi-Potion Item (large HP)
Cupcake: (X-Potion item) (Full HP)
Pie: (All-Potion) (Large HP to all)
Cake: Elixir Full MP/HP and all status besides namefagged healed on single person.
Marblecake: Megalixir. Elixir on all.

Also, I suggest making class characters, so that instead of Zipper an Beltan gaems, there is a strategy between which characters to use (SpeechAnon uses mostly Offensive Trolling, MedicAnon uses Defensive and Healing Trolling (Maybe call it something else), FlyerAnon is Warrior, etc.. etc...)

Just a few suggestions.

The game format:

You have a world map of our world. You can move from city to city to protest and level up and fight the bosses in the orgs. Now while we don't go into the orgs IRL, the orgs are the games dungeons. You don't go in until you have "protested" by getting random encounters, as well as walking around and talking to people in town and visiting shops to load up on gear. As you talk to people in town, you get education about the evils of scientology. In the orgs you'll find docs, mini bosses and more encounters and sometimes items to help you out. When you reach the boss, you fight him and he either blows at the end (scilon death will be "<scilon name> has blown". Or he will run off bawwing if he is a recurring enemy.

I'm also changing things a bit again here. I was going to do a game for each month of protesting, but now I see that I'll never get caught up. So this game will cover Feb-July. I may add a few more cities in too. Depending on when I get this done, I'll probably be able to do a sequel with Aug-Dec protests.

DM and TC will be bosses, but like Dr. Claw, you never permanently defeat them. They always escape after being foiled to come back in another game. Maybe after the cos goes down for real, I can make a final game where you finish them once and for all.

Oh and Quote, I do appreciate the suggestions even if I can't use all of them. The main areas I'm hard up for ideas on right now are items and weapons and armor and spells.

Also keep in mind, some ideas are not possible due to limitations of the RPG maker program or time constraints. If I put everything in here, I'd never be done.

Finally, if anyone wants to make a game idea of their own on this theme, do it! Find a copy of RPG Maker XP or VX (VX is newer, but I've read some bad things about it). I need to check out VX to see if the battle system is as dumbed down as I've heard, or if there has since been a patch to make it better. VX does have way better graphics, so I've been told...
