*rubs head* Woops. Guess I didn't copy/paste correctly. Just came back from a music thread in /b/. Actually, I don't even think I put any text into that post as a response either...too much OTVII, I think. Can't even remember what I wanted to say.

New /i/nvasions are being discussed on the regular Nots and 20 boards. Things have cooled off a little bit, but chans are on the move. I expect to see some more DDOS'ing sometime soon.

Would DDOS'ing be any point at all with the DDOS handlers they employed?

edit: also, as I'm sure has been mentioned somewhere in the previous 50 pages; would it be a point to host this particular video on a seperate BS-free site for news media where they can be sure it won't be pulled? So they're not afraid to look like fucktards for linking to dead shit... Don't wanna lose this exposure. xenutv1 can be messed with again.

If a reflective DDoS was used, then it could swamp even Prolexic. Especially if they use core internet routers (ones with multi-hundreg gigabit channels)...

(a) There is most certainly clear logic in threatening to affect their revenue.

(b) I'm not sure getting youtube on our side permanently will ever happen.

(c) No opportunity is lost.

boycott of viewing youtube ads would create all kinds of publicity to highlight the dirty trick scientology is using, the vulnerability present in youtube which makes this trick effective, youtube's general slowness to act when its system has been abused, and finally youtube's repeated problems in the area of suppressing legitimate content.

I think enough revenue pressure could be brought to bare on youtube that they may consider changing policy or process to prevent this all too often occurance.

You haven't said anything to say why tried and true methods of consumer action would fail wiley. You simply say 'be nice it will work, dont threaten it wont work' - why?


I have no problem with you advocating your method for approaching this. I dont really think the two methods are mutually exclusive. I think there are a number of approaches we should take including speaking the language business understands, $$$$.

be nice to people you talk to at youtube. for example we dont hate scientologists, but we dont like co$ and we are clear on that. dont tip toe around the issue. have some balls.

understand your audience and what they want out of it. youtube wants money. they only listen to us at all because their image affects their revenue and their model is based on viewers. they dont care what we have to say because "they are cool", they care because it effects their money. we can just shortcut, bypass all the corp speak and lip service and get directly to the heart of the matter, the money. seriously, in business i dont want some nice guy calling me buttering me all up, sucking up to me. I want them to get to the point - is there money involved here. I mean seriously I'll be a nice guy on the phone but I'll turn around and laugh at you afterwards. "thanks for your opinion its important to me" - no its not, i'm lying, i dont care what you think if you arent going to do anything about. I'm just being pragmatic here. listen, its like this, hug raids have their place ok? with youtube I dont really think so. I mean I'm cool with people being all "I'm chill and this is what I want to do" but please dont say "being chill is the only way to do it man". I'm speaking from experience here too. I had people baw at me and be all nice and whatever and you know, in the end, if its not a threat to business I dont really care. I've had people call me and threaten me and I felt all kinds of pride stinging me and shit but if it was a credible threat, I put my pride away and I do what it takes to eliminate the threat - normally i bend over and take one for the team.

Just what I've heard. Apparently some people are tryin to get past the detection devices the Scilons put up in their tubes. Don't know exactly how or why that will help. It'd be a bad move, I think, but I'm just some guy. /i/ will do what it wants.

I had a thought to go along with the adblocking war threat...
What if we also did the opposite? Reward those who support us by clicking their links and all. Not so much as it would count as spamming.. but a few per person at least should be considered fine...

Also... it occurs to me the reason enzo was encouraging us to "at least back up videos on another site" might be so they know what website to work on next. Despite the logic
of backups, we can't just cede them YouLoose. That's giving up too much of a resource. It's far better to make our stand, and make such a huge PR stink that they wish they never messed with us. Moving to another site would be a last resort.. it would be far better to claim a win than run and hide.

In any case, this event is defiantly a note of history in the event of this movement.
