What's the real "win" with the first headline? People get to see the video a day or two sooner? Big deal. They already missed the big, well advertised window Mark Bunker and FOX and the Village Voice and others had been pushing. People had ALREADY gotten bored waiting for the version of the Beghe teaser to load on various news websites, and it not doing so, and then given up on the story.

And the cost is that Anonymous once more can be spun as "web terrorists", as nonsense as that sounds to us.

With the second headline, even if Bunker's stuff is down longer, the MEDIA spins the story with the concerned Internet citizens being the HEROES. It wasn't a bunch of angry nerds getting their jollies playing power games and showing their marketing muscle.

Bunker himself understands this. Public perception is a very important thing. Pressure occasionally has to be used, but it has to be used in an intelligent way that sends the message that this is about Justice, not just getting what we want.

Yeah, that might sound high minded to you. But its less about how we think of ourselves (although its nice if we do think well of ourselves) than what can be said about us.

Long term win vs. short term win.

i dont think soccer moms that have used consumer action to affect change in policy at networks are a group of cyberterrorists. I honestly think the headline might read:

"Anonymous plays hardball and pressures YouTube into restoring account suspended by Co$ dirty tricks"

I think it also sends a strong message to youtube - stop doing this shit.

I think its more of a long-term win than just bitching about 1 channel and one video. I think youtube might reconsider its policy and process.

We get xenutv1 back and youtube will not say anything about it, it will happen again and again cause youtube thinks its a small fire. OSA will get new accounts, the system will be gamed.

I think it might be too narrow a focus to just make this about xenutv1 when there are lots of people on youtube that are pissed about youtube censorship that happens all the time. I think we get more people on board saying 'look, youtube gets gamed again because of their poor policy and process that has been abused over and over again, most recently by scientology'.

unless you are in the advertising business I dont see what the real issue with this is. Getting people to block ads in protest is not a terrorist activity. Its not mean, its not stupid, its not irrational.

there is nothing wrong with consumer action. we arent going to scare off the general public because we say 'listen, its our right as consumers to vote with our $$$ - we dont have to watch their advertising'

with regards to justice - I think making an issue of the youtube policies and process that get gamed on a regular basis to suppress speech on youtube is more about justice than focusing on just one suspended channel. It seems to me your method is only concerned with getting what we want and not concerned with greater youtube justice. Its all moot in the end, come sunday morning if things havent been restored then cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.

you are taking quite a leap here when you associate tried and true consumer action with terrorism.

We need to have teeth. I've got no problem with talking softly but we should be carrying a big stick.

are you the only person doing public and media relations? (aside from the drive-by callers etc.) is there a "press room" somewhere on this site where media can get accurate, regular information or is it all buried somewhere here? where can we see the most recent press release?

OK. He knows that, and you are right to support him, but I am wondering about the highest levels of content about this PR effort. This is not amateur hour.
