Re: Birmingham, UK
Update from the front.
At last report, sixty plus anons are present. However, police have told the protesters not to hand out leaflets, and not to be down by the church due to complaints. Local business have complained in the past due to lost business, and this may be a repeat of that. Then again, it might not be. |

Re: Birmingham, UK
Did you ask WHY you can't flyer, given that no other constabulary has had a problem with it EVER?

It was decided to go with the leaflets anyway and see what happened; there were none of our leaflets on the the floor (we all were binning any discarded leaflets), the police turned up 2 1/2 hours before the end to tell us we couldn't give out leaflets. We'll have it sorted for June 14th protest :) |

Re: Birmingham, UK
Looking at the link it clearly states...
"The schemes do not apply to the distribution of free printed matter; • by or on behalf of a charity within the meaning of the Charities Act 1993, • where the distribution is for political purposes or for the purpose of a religion or belief." So they are not applicable. I owuld have thought that Anonymous's leaflets were clearly for the distribution of a belief and were not covered. iw ould suggest that for the next meet someone takes a print out of the web page with the relevant words high lighted and asks to talk to the seargent if they are told not to hand out leaflets. This is a clear and completely disproportionate restriction on Human Rights which is why the scheme itself has an exeception for the expression of beliefs. |

Re: Birmingham, UK
We pointed that out last time as well, they said that it wasn't covered due to being anti-"religious", and suggested we contact the council to cofirm it one way or the other. There have been several e-mails/calls made, and so far, no-one has got back and confirmed whether or not we're covered, so we took them yesterday anyway.
As far as I know, we got through quite a lot before the Police told us we couldn't hand them out. Also, I'd say at least 70 different Anons. Not all there at same time, came and went at various times. |

Re: Birmingham, UK
Hi I'm new to all this and had never heared about you before I saw the brotest in Bham yesterday.
I would have just walked by except I noticed two very odd blokes, American-wierd looking, taking photos of the protesters while trying not to be noticed. They looked rather unnerved when I got my mobile out and pretended to take a photo of them taking photos. |

Welcome FriendlyPhilosopher, to the amazing global phenomenon that is Anonymous. Scientology has a long history of stalking, smearing and harassing its opponents- see the link in my signature. Hence the value in standing up to them.
