Re: Ottawa, Ontario
Just got back. Couldn't stay for the whole thing, but did my part and annoyed everyone.
What was with the guys in orange? They weren't even cops. |

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
They were downtown security, or something. Apparently, the people at Silverline Tattoo didn't like our presence there, so they called security and the police. When the police showed up, what we assume to be one of Silverline's customers was arrested for unknown reasons.
Anyway, turnout was fairly low. About 25-30 people showed up, which I attribute to school being out and Mother's Day.

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
My first time around for the whole deal, but I think it went fairly well. First time in my life I've worn a suit and enjoyed it.
I am still quite curious about what was going on with the police though. I mean, I expect that they'd been called about us initially, but they didn't make try to make it look like they were giving us a stern talking to. I would have expected at least a token effort. Then they left for a bit, came back, and the that girl got taken away from Silverline. Hopefully someone will be able to get some details as to what went on, and fill us all in. I've been trying to look up more on the orange-shirts, but the Rideau BIA site isn't terribly informative. Based on what I saw, I'd guess they were "Street Ambassadors." They mostly serve to shoo away the homeless. If I'm right, they were basically just there to observe us, and be ready to call the real authorities if it looked like we were making trouble. Probably nothing to worry about, given that their standards seemed more reasonable than those of certain local establishments. On an unrelated note, having a couple people on the corner with the abandoned building seems like a fairly good idea, and worth keeping up if we can. It lets us cover both sides of the street, and there's no business there to get upset at us, or pester us about bothering customers. Also, FREE CANDY FOR ANONYMOUS! |

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
I took 400-500 pics Saturday. Most of them turned out, I'll upload them whenever I can find the time, to my photobucket

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
Heads up, we have video.
Also, for those Ottawafags who are interested, some of us are going to drop in on the Net Neutrality rally on May 27th. More details can be found at Bonus Stage (Net Neutrality Protest - OttawaLulz) We're the final bosses of the Internet. It would be a crime for us not to show up. In b4 NYPA.

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
OK, 429 pics are now up (slightly higher res than the April 12 ones)
anonymous_nikon/may 10 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting As with those from April 12, don't pay any attention to the order of the images: it is completely backwards, and incoherent as well. The filenames aren't true to when the pictures were taken either, because Capture NX (the processing software) decided to process all the pictures from my 2nd SD card I used that day BEFORE the ones from my 1st SD card. However, They do have accurate datestamps AFAIK. Hope everyone enjoys the pics. |

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
From a reliable source:
The woman who was taken into custody by the police was a runaway girl that the police recognized. She was just a customer there at the wrong time, and the cops just took her home. |

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
So assuming she wasn't running away from abuse, our antics may have had some random positive effect. Wow.

Re: Ottawa, Ontario
Well, that's little disappointing. She was crying and all, so I guess her day was kind of ruined, but not in a way that really lets me savour the schadenfreude.
