edit
Op has been renamed Operation: Tea Party.
Questions remain about legality, can you help?
/edit

Pretty much what it sounds like: a week-long all-day all-night vigil and fliering in front of CoS orgs. Shifts of 5-15 Anons bring out the lawn chairs and snacks like it's the night before a new Pokémon movie, handing out fliers, talking to people who stop, and waving signs. More importantly though, just being there to unnerve the Scilons and possibly disrupt their whole week with a few well-placed Xenus during business hours.

This is a rather ambitious idea that may only be possible in cities that have had hundreds of people turn out for the monthlies.

It should be left until the summer (with apologies to our antipodean brothers and sisters) to take advantage of warmer weather and anons being out of school.

Thoughts?

Someone was saying something similar on IRC.

As long as you stay warm, watered and fed it's a great idea.
As long as you can get whatever permits are required for the whole time too.

Re: Operation: 24/7

Ambitious but a cool idea; my only concern is the permits.

It might be more doable if it were to happen at the hours when the center was open. Just to show we're always watching but not to require overnight police watch or anything (since it would probably be happening in the bigger cities where police are/were present).

But still very cool.

It sounds interesting, but permits are unlikely to be attained and I'm picking that there are a fair few COS locations where 24/7 would be fine only with armed guards and barbed wire fencing.

Re: Operation: 24/7

Hi all

A bit off the thread but i've heard off the copenhagen thread that the scifags are operating Macdonald franchises so by boycoting these outlets we can hit their finance 24/7. Anyone like to verify this or is it just a rumour??

People do week-long hunger strikes out in public, do they need permits for that? I don't see why we'd need permits [everywhere] for this. Toronto didn't need permits for the first two protests with hundreds of people crowded on the sidewalk and a lane of traffic shut down.

It would also be a stronger symbol to be there around the clock.

Well, to bring chairs and shit you'll very likely want to get a permit. Maybe in some states you guys can even put up a lil shanty town of tents and chairs. I think it would be funnyer to call it Operation: Permatroll.

I have heard you need permits to set up any sort of table, but obviously it will depend on your area. It's a great idea, I just think that without permit and/or protection, the overnight thing puts itself out there for a lot of trouble. =/ Just makes me nervous, is all.

I say go for it. It's like an encampment, we have progressed so far into their territory that we now have bases of operation within eyesight. I would kill to see a couple nice suited anon's sitting around a fancy table on the sidewalk, mock planning their next operation and scilons trying to spy on it.

Just prepare for bull-baiting. Keep a good humor about you and have fun and you'll do alright.

Strength in numbers.

Not a bad idea, actually. It would be of the utmost importance to make sure all anons taking part are aware of the risks and are mature enough to look out for each other, though. No dicking around and wandering off to the local Starbucks in the middle of the night, naturally.

I can see it now, several people with Guy Fawkes masks, crowded around a cozy little table and chairs to sit in, casually drinking tea (cute little china tea cups with little flowers preferable) and eating cakes/chips, while passing out a few fliers and having a grand time discussing... something very important I'm sure. Defiantly a one way ticket to scaring the pants off the Scilons. They will be screaming "harassment" and "stalkers" while everyone will look completely innocent, having a cute little tea party outside their buildings, and generally having fun too.

Interesting...

A tea party strike eh?
With free hugs

Instead, consider setting up next to FREE STRESS TESTS Scilon booths, FREE HUGS Anonymous booths

Re: Operation: 24/7

Actually I quite like the business-tea-party/free hugs idea. =D Completely innocent while Co$ goes batshit...

If anyone does do the free hugs thing (since I've seen several posts about it), I'm sure it would infuriate the Co$ to see a sign that said "REDUCE STRESS! ASK US FOR A FREE HUG."

It's kind of like he V-cooking-breakfast-scene... a good wtf-cutesy factor.

Operation Tea Party?

I like that. We dress up and hold tea parties with Earl Grey and crumpets.

And cake.

Operation: Infinite Tea Party

Operation: Tea Party is a much better name, I agree.

I'm not entirely convinced permits would be needed, but it wouldn't hurt to get them if there's any doubt. Needing 24hr police could be a problem though.

Is it too early to try nailing down a specific week for this? Anything on the Scilon summer calendar worth spoiling?

This will be much harder for areas with smaller numbers of Anons - they will be spread thin and have to take longer shifts. As cool as it sounds, I personally think it's too hard to pull off.

I'd actually had a similar idea, set sometime in the summer.

It don't think a week is possible, a weekend is more plausible. A full 24 hours is almost certainly doable.
