Guys,

I've just been having a look at domain names, and the Poison Dwarf has registered virtually every combination of his name.

Except, apparently, www.david-miscavige.co.uk and also www.david-miscavige.eu

[stands back as some OSA flunky gets shot ;-) ]

As search engines give priority to domain names containing search terms, these two domains should rank highly if someone types old Davey's name in to Google (as long as they are pointed at pages rich in the appropriate search terms)

Best of all, you can snap these up with an appropriate registrar for £5.58 for the UK (2 years) and £0.99 for the .eu (123 Reg are very good

Nice try, but I think (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) it's illegal to use a domain that represents the name of a celebrity. This came up with cyber-squatters taking domains of music celebrities and charging much larger fees to those celebrities who wanted their own website. Most likely if he found a critical site in his name, he'd sue you for it because it impersonates him. Plus then they'll know who you are by who the domain is registered to, and if not that from suing you for it.

um fair use...we arent going to impersonate him. just make fun of him. perfectly legal in the usa to make a parody.

a) The midget is not a celebrity. Please do not give him a status that he doesn't deserve. (Or was Al Capone a celebrity??? Or Osama Bin Laden?)

I wasn't supporting him as a celebrity, but citing something they might try to argue. David Miscaviage is a well-known person, whether famous or infamous, and it could be cited (maybe not correctly) as confusing to potential visitors, or something similar to a trademark infringement. Bin Laden probably wouldn't host a webpage that clearly contained his name in the domain because federal agents would be over it like flies over rotting flesh.

As for the rest of the criticism, go ahead and take them. I was just predicting their response. If registered anonymously, the [well-known] figure of today might simply take it down and have the domain put in his own name. It might be worthwhile while it lasts though.

This is not about copyrights. If anything, it should be about trademarks, or that the domain is personal, due to the name.

IANAL, but I think buying this domain name would pose no legal hassles, if it has a use that justifies the name (information about what he represents or parody)

But I personally think it would be a waste of time and money. Esp. since his criminal organisation will be disbanded soon, and he'll be the leader of fuckall ;)

No less a waste of time than buying those masks or sunglasses, or paying for transportation to protests. It would be a lot more of a waste of time to manage the website, than of money for the domain. As long as there is no legal hassle or namefaggery, I think this is a good idea. We should do this or not, but as the subject implies, it's a bit urgent; someone from Scientology will probably read it sooner or later and buy the domain just to keep us off if we don't take it first.

I'm surprised it's still there now. I don't have a machine that is capable of web-hosting right now, but I think that's rather cheap for a domain. I know some HTML and javascript though... Anyone else up for grabbing it?

Hmm... it doesn't look like they will let me register anonymously. Do you know another place to register .co.uk domains?

I found the perfect anonymous domain registrar (outside EU & US). They have balls of titanium and do not even read letters from lawyers or any law enforcement agency. (Offshore....), (and they do not even want to know who you are....) however currently they have a small hickup in their system and I'm currently technically not able to register it. However, when it's possible again, I will register it. The content can be delivered by Anons. Anonymous delivers, right?

They do even provide anonymous content hosting, just in case.
