I'm a baw fag and I have to say, subforums [in general] drive me up the wall.

BAWWWWWWWW! now where do I get my news from?

Now what will I lurk?

Okay, at the risk of me sounding like a pretentious whore, Imma going to politely disagree with the splitting of Breaking News. This could just as well be a knee jerk reaction and given time, we will all become comfortable with these subsections- but as of now I am wary of the breakup. I tend to be strongly antisubforum anyway, so you could probably disregard my hot air and nothing of value would be lost.

Breaking News was the most lurked and most active subforum on the page- second only to general discussion (but even then could get about a 100 more viewers than GD). Anything that went there had great exposure and good discussion. With breaking it up into three different subforums, it runs the risk of dividing activity or completely killing activity in one subsection, thus all exposure to something that would merit comments would be lost. The second one would be more common because for some reason- people just don't like clicking multiple sections. They tend to become comfortable with only one or two sections [usually Breaking News and Thunderdome/GD/Other] and rarely visit any other unless they are avid "New Posts" clickers.

Subforums are handy if activity is too fast paced and discussion goes too fast. Which I feel that it wasn't in BN. It was actually a fantastic pace with a good amount of discussion. Taking away activity would just limit user interaction as some would be more inclined to lurk elsewhere, and in general make it more dull. Eventually people will tend to pool more into one subsection, the one that tends to have the most activity, and important things that normally would garner good discussion like a Fair Game report during a raid, would become incredibly slow.

The other reason to have subforums is to be more organized if the original forum was too chaotic and messy. This I understand more since not everyone was clear what would be "Breaking News." But I really enjoyed the system the mods had before where anything that was initially important would be in BN, then after awhile be moved to their appropriate subforum. BN is one of the best moderated sections I have seen and it worked out really well, despite some "AMG STOP IT" posts.

So tl;dr: Subforums break up activity and limit exposure to important matters. Your old system was fantastic because of a highly efficient moderating team presence- which also might become split via the subforum diverge.

I agree it was a bad call. The old way wasn't perfect, but it was the first place I think most people went to see ... I dunno ...

Don't want to tell anybody how to do their job but what was wrong with the way it was? Breaking News was the one place I came to everyday to see the updates. I knew I could come here and immediately find out something new and important. Spreading it out might seem to make it more organized but really it just divides attention among the sub forums. I'm not going to lie I don't visit each sub forum here mainly just out of time. I don't have 2 hours to read the new threads in each sub forum even though I would like to. Having everything in place was very convenient.

Don't like it sorry, the old way worked very well, i don't want the have to seperatly browse 3 forums, read what D... said etc

If you make it too hard for the newfags to get info , well they don't get it lol.

I liked breaking news. if only we would just keep Katie holmes type bullshit from there...

I just cruised in for my evening reading of Breaking News and find it's gone. Not sure if I like this or not yet. But it's always my first stop, so it's definitely something I noticed.

I have to agree; I have two breaks at work where I jump into Breaking News to see if anything interesting is going on, and then when I get home I usually read it for an hour. It's really the only section of the site I have time to read, and, if it's split, there's users who could help with a "breaking" topic, but simply don't see it. Our strength is that no Anon knows everything, but together, we know almost everything. There should be definitely be a central hub like Breaking News so that we can bring this knowledge together quickly in an easy way.

What the hell are you crybabies baaawing about? Breaking News is still there. It's called Breaking News. You want to see what is actually breaking "News"? Meaning the News Media? Click on Media. You want to see what's the buzz on actual RL raids and such? You know - the things Anonymous is actually DOING about Scientology and not just TALKING ABOUT IT? Then click on Raids & Leaks. You want to follow up specifically on the Co$' Fair Gaming tactics - which is a pretty serious fucking subject, you know - then Click on Fair Game.

These aren't "sub-forums". For Frith's sake - they're on the FRONT PAGE of the Forums section! You don't want to have to surf through "three different forums" to find out what's new? Well, some of us are sick of having to surf through A DOZEN of pages to find out about something that actually JUST happened, simply because a tired old story about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby has been bumped - AGAIN - with pointless chatter.

I was in a Raid this last weekend and I couldn't even find the Thread about it until this forum division happened. Why? Because it was buried under a ton of other Threads - most of which are all on the same goddam topic!

Stop yer whining or I'm whipping out the macros of crying babies. I swear it.

Learn to embrace changes, people. We're demanding that the Scientology Organization change their ENTIRE structure and possibly give up the Head Midget for prosecution - and you can't deal with having to click on 2 more forums?
