What tips do you have for new Enturb users?

Here are my tips:
1. Don't get offended by the -fag appellations arorund here. They're a figure of speech and aren't about homophobia. Welcome to Enturb, newfag. <3

2. Use the search feature BEFORE you make a new thread.

3. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: If you want to remain anonymous on this board, it's a good idea to make a screen name for Enturb that is NOT your usual nick on other parts of the web. Remember that these message boards are open to everyone, including people from the Church of Scientology who would love to have your identity so they can press charges against you (whether you've done anything illegal or not). Be smart- don't post identifying info about yourself unless it's necessary- EG, you can't avoid saying where you're from in most cases, but no one needs to know what sort of job you have/what car you drive/how you dress/where you hang out.

lurk, don't be frightened if you don't get the humor at first, and don't get upset if you get flamed.

Don't be afraid to ask for help from moderators by sending a PM to them . I have found that mods would prefer to receive a PM than have to repair a thread that is going down like the Hindeberg zeppelin.

Also, not trying to impose one's ego is a good idea.

If you should venture away from Enturbulation and into the deep sea of Anonymous, for the love of God don't take anything seriously. Especially not Chanology, and especially not Anonymous. Furthermore, remember that there are some disgusting and alarming things on the internet, and the primary purpose of those posting them is to harvest the laughs that are milked when people freak out at the sight of them. Don't feed the trolls. Again, they are trying to get a reaction out of you. The correct response is either laughter or outright ignoring. Anything else will only encourage them to do it more.

Don't get offended. Yes, goatse really is that funny, tubgirl really is that compelling, and your mom really is that easy. Tolerance that extends only to those positions which you happen to approve of is not tolerance. If you are not a Moderator, the only time you should ever even consider taking action is if someone is doing something blatantly illegal. Even then, you should probably just LURK MOAR: others with more experience are almost certainly already handling it.

Above all, don't take your self seriously. We are not in this to become e-famous, and nobody likes an attention whore.

* Try to set up some throwaway emails/youtube/flickr accounts. Do not post Anonymous pics in your personal accounts!
* No pictures of you or anyone you know unmasked.

Finally, the Moderators of Enturbulation.org are some of the hardest-working people I've ever "met" online. You may not agree with their personal opinions or their methodolgies, but they are here to support. Honestly.

This has already been stat-ed(see what i did there?) But it needs to be restated.

While posting, reading, and generally using the board/ and, in fact, the internet. Don't Take Yourself that seriously. Your not that important, that funny, or that smart.

Know when to ignore a "tip". (See suggestion above by Cheezymadman).

Fresh ideas and good suggestions are always welcome. Having said that, use the search function first and check whether it's been discussed before.

One I know from experience:

If your thread/video/shop/idea sucks. Acknowledge that it sucks, learn from it, and move on. Since I lurked a bit before posting, I kept this attitude from the beginning. Most of the time, when you're a newfag (like I am, and it still applies to me), your ideas are going to suck 90% of the time. Don't turn yourself into an e-rape victim.
