Anonymous vs. The Church of Scientology
Operation: Reconnect.
On April 12th 2008, the internet based group ‘Anonymous’ will be demonstrating outside Scientology centres all over the United Kingdom. Locations include London, Birmingham, Plymouth, Brighton, Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast, Sunderland, York, Liverpool and Kent. On a world wide scale, protests will be happening in over 150 different locations in America, Europe, Asia and Australasia.
The theme of these protests will be the Church of Scientology’s policy of “disconnection”, described as follows; “Disconnection is a practice in Scientology, in which a Scientologist severs all ties between themselves and friends, colleagues, or family members that are deemed to be antagonistic towards Scientology.” This policy has ripped apart families and destroyed lives.
In London, the demonstrations will begin at the Church of Scientology located at 146 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4V 4BY from 11am until 1:30pm. At 2pm Anonymous will move to the Scientology and Dianetics Centre located at 68 Tottenham Court Road, London W1P 0BB.
Attendance for the London raid is estimated at 1200. Present at both locations will be members of Anonymous who can explain “disconnection” and other Scientology practices in detail, and if required to a camera. Also present will be Bonnie and Richard Woods, ex-Scientologists who now run “EscapeInt” :: escape :: helping families under scientology stress
There will also be a mobile ‘hug raid’ that will travel by foot from the first location to the second, approximately an hour ahead of the main body. This detachment will distribute fliers and hugs to the public.
Anonymous will also be gathering signatures for a petition to revoke the Church of Scientology’s VAT exemption status.
Anonymous will be handing out free hugs and cake to the public and to anyone who wants it. Anonymous cordially invites you to join us, and suggests you take a moment to visit;
