Anonymous stifles clearwater businesses?

Clearwater is fine, according to my source the council took an incredibly short period to review the petition before throwing it out (contact said about 5 minutes). The council said (paraphrase) "We realize that you may be upset over the matter, but blocking these protests would be a complete and total invasion into their 1st amendment right."

One could also say that they said "LOLOL FREEDOM OF SPEECH, NAO GTFO!"

The St. Pete Times will be running a story on it sometime this week, I'll make sure it gets posted up here.

Approximately 37 businesses have filed a petition asking that the mayor "do something" about the protests. They have claimed that our protests are far from peaceful and that they are having a serious negative impact on the downtown economy. There are accusations of us harassing customers and preventing them from entering businesses.

That's bullshit, don't you guys have police to back up that they are peaceful? They can't block a protest on public property just because "we don't like them."

They're saying that Anon should be trying to "Build the community not tear it down?" Haha, that's funny. I love that they're whinging about Anon using their democratic right to protest :)

I can't wait to see this denied!. The mayor won't do anything as long as you're filming everything and have proof that you're NOT disrupting business.

Maybe you should all buy something from those stores at the next protest, help "build the community", KCW (Keep [the] Community Working), or something like that... =\

What I find amusing is that the petition is from business owners in downtown Clearwater, specifically along the parade routes, however quite a few of the businesses are not downtown. Especially "PO Box 573 - self employed." There are also signatures from multiple people from the same business on the petition. This needs to be investigated and reported to the City of Clearwater. I was only in Clearwater for 4/12, but most of the businesses I passed when marching were empty strip malls with dusty or boarded up windows, or the Scientology compounds themselves. The few businesses that were still open and operational had large signs in the windows "ANONYMOUS NOT WELCOME" - yet are complaining about losing business?? Give me a FUCKING BREAK.

Also, about the ANON NOT WELCOME signs - I know that it is florida law that a shop owner can refuse service to anyone, but there has to be a clause to that law that limits that right, specifically stating that you cannot refuse business to someone because of their beliefs or because of their membership in a group. Just a thought, I'm no lawyer.

When Scientologists first went to Clearwater in 1975 (I was there amongst them) it was done with a corporate MASK called "United Churches".

The Sea Org's ODD COSTUMES invaded downtown Clearwater. Fake navy with no ship, on land!

The Scientologists CHANT at Hubbard photos at events along with applause over and over.

Sea Org execs YELL at lower staff members.

When the "United Churches = Scientology" deception was uncovered the city went ballistic and Scientology was very UNWELCOME.

They are objecing to THEMSELVES!!

What a bunch of WIN. $cilon business owners coming out of the woodwork and lying under oath. I smell much legal enturbulation to be had.

Guys, make sure you get a COP in there. From all the vids I've seen I am 100% sure not a single one would ever testify that our protests are anything other than peaceful.

I see this as a test. If this goes through you will see other cities with scientology orgs trying this.

I will be willing to write to who ever, but clearly Clearwater Anons need to take the reins.
