I'm writing you in response to recent issues with application of YouTube Terms of Service policy. In a nutshell many members of your audience including myself are displeased with your unaccountability for your actions with regards to the removal of accounts and videos.

This is actually a serious issue because it does threaten your revenue stream as well as the revenue of your advertising clients. You may know by now that the internet and its users are very powerful, especially when united behind a common cause, particularly when a perceived injustice has occurred. I will elaborate our plans.

We will attack your revenue. We will continue to watch youtube and use google, however we will use technology to prevent the delivery of your advertisements. We will notify the advertisers we no longer see. We will advise them the reason for our action is your preferential treatment of one client (church of scientology) to the detriment of all of them. We will advise shareholders of this breech of fiduciary duty. We will gain widespread coverage in the press. We will gain widespread support from users of your service. We will be successful. We will still laugh at people doing stupid things on youtube and we will still get relevant search results from google. You will sacrifice revenue and we will sacrifice nothing.

Adblocking technology is a serious threat to your business model. It not only prevents the delivery of a service you sell but it also creates general concern to those clients you provide your advertising services. We will shake their confidence in your ability to deliver what you sell. Lots of people out there would love to block your advertisements but simply dont know how. We will use your service to educate them. We will post videos instructing them where they can download the software required and how to install and setup the software. We will use youtube to provide technical support to users wishing to block your ads. We will make videos on youtube promoting our campaign against youtube. We will create dozens of new channels. We will use technology to post videos anonymously. You will not be able to ban us all. You will not be able to silence us. Do not let pride get in the way of your fiduciary duty. Restore xenutv1, re-examine your policies if they are broken, fix the problem. We will not accept excuses. Fix the problem. Surely you can see this is a problem. It will only get worse. We have power. We have used discretion because advertising is an important part of the internet and we respect your right to make money and profit, but not while disrespecting and ignoring the concerns of your audience.

We are the ones that your clients want to reach. We buy things we see on the internet. I click on advertisements. I know how to use adblocking technology but I chose not to because of an understanding of mutual respect. I respect you as a service provider, you respect me as an user of those services. This relationship fails when you no longer respect your users. We are no longer bound by any mutual respect. You become my enemy not my friend. I have a voice. Your clients have email addresses and phone numbers. Your users are my friends. I will tell my friends how you disrespected us and what we can do about it.

Consider this long and hard. Dont let your pride get in the way. Others have been nice in their communications with you. Make no mistake, we am threatening you. We will whip those nice folks up into a frenzied mob aligned against you. We will make attacking your revenue stream a cool and hip thing to do. We will target your larger demographics. We will tell the 18-24 year olds that you are an oppressive regime, that you are 'the man' and that its cool to 'stick it' to you.

Do you really want to be the next target? Look at the Church of Scientology. Consider carefully if you want your documents showing up on wikileaks, if you want bad press all across the internet far and wide, if you want mainstream press to pick up on it. They are Church, they are a pseudo-religion and are somewhat protected as a result. Make no mistake about it - people have far less reservations about attacking an irresponsible and abusive company than they do about attacking a corrupt and abusive religion. Its not politically incorrect to attack a business.

In closing, dont start the adblock war. You will not win. Stop being [expletive noun] to your users and we wont make it our goal to get you fired for not acting in the best interest of the company. You have until Sunday 4-20-2008. We will cry havoc and let lose the hounds of war at 12:00 GMT if you continue to act in a manner that insults the intelligence of your users. We are sick of your policy. We aren't stupid. We have a pretty good idea whats going on. You can be accountable and (a) make us believe your policy is good policy (b) you arent just bowing to pressure to suppress speech critical of your client. I mean its so pointless on your part - do you think we are just going to go away? do you think you will actually be able to control the content? You dont have the technology. We are one step ahead of you. The videos that dont infringe on copyrights wont disappear. There will be 100 altered copies put up within days for every version you take down. We are being pragmatic. We are telling you exactly how its going to play out. Its fantasy if you think its going to play out any other way.

eh, I don't think direct threats against youtube are really going to help all that much. Not to mention, that reads pretty close to extortion. Stay on target.
