of worthy takers. The links would go there anyway, it's not as if a video has to be

Could be a nice start to an alternative to youtube, and also it would be a powerful stab

Hardly, being in the real business world myself. I am talking about an alternative to hosting videos, which can be linked out in the usual places and blogs but under Anonymous' control. "lol"

What needs to be done?

1.) Go to this video:
YouTube - Scientology Cancels XENU TV's YouTube Account

And rate it highly and post LOTS of comments. If this video by Bunker is kept high in the Top Rated, Most Commented and Most Views categories, then YouTube won't be able to stall actually investigating why they suddenly got thousands of complaints.

2.) Contact the media.

This is a prime opportunity to expose the tactics that Scientology is willing to use. And you know what? The SAME media locations that were licking their chops at the juicy Beghe video tease appear to be asleep at the wheel now. They SHOULD be curious why the video clip most of them linked to in their earlier wave of stories don't work anymore. But a quick Google News search for the terms "Xenu TV" and/or "Mark Bunker" seems to show that only the Times Online has published the NEW story of why the video is down.

Yes, YouTube is in many ways probably a victim (of Scientology manipulation) here. The OSA had a couple of hundred fake accounts complain and YT was obligated to answer that with action--as they do whenever a wave of complaints comes in. But the story the media outlets need to be clued into is less about YouTube being easily manipulated, and more about WHY the complaints happened. Because Scientology knew that the majority of people were just casually stumbling across the Beghe teaser on Village Voice's website, or the Times Online, or Radio Times or the Huffington Post, or a hundred local Fox affiliate websites, and if they pressed the "play" button on the video and it didn't work? A lot of those people would just (metaphorically) roll over and go back to sleep in regards to this issue. If the video HAD played, a lot of them probably would have been intrigued and jumped over to YT to view the whole longer interview.

Contact the Village Voice. Fox News. Your local paper. etc. and tell them about this. At first blush they will probably think this is conspiracy talk, so calmly explain in logical language the sequence of events and WHY you believe CoS is behind this. Even if Bunker's account is BACK by the time you do this, the story of the channel being shut down RIGHT when the most media attention was focused on it is STILL a valid story in of itself. If they are made aware of it.


(EDIT - I see someone elsewhere has mentioned a brief mention on FOX news' website, but they seem to be coming down on the side that its a "coincidence". FOX needs to be informed that this is NOT a bunch of kooks telling them that YouTube is "in bed" with Scientology, but simply that YT are suckers who fell for a "mass complaint" tactic launched by Scientology. In other words, tell FOX that YT is a victim here too...)

if it doesn't work some of us goto war with youtube. Youtube has strategic value in the fight against scientology. Its just like North African in WWII. We have to secure and hold youtube. It is imperative.

I'd personally rather keep focused on the local Orgs and such but the fact of the matter is we kind of need youtube. Its a slap in the face if we cant get this changed. Its a win for scientology if we cant get this changed.


I think the adblock campaign could work. People will do it not because they care but just because they dont want to watch ads. Youtube probably knows this - if not we will remind them of one of the most often cited reasons for owning TiVO or a DVR system - "i can fast forward through the ads".

This strategy is tried and true. ABC, CBS, NBC, probably even FOX have all bowed to pressure from advertisers. Youtube is not unique. They will have to change something if their primary business responsibility (make money) conflicts with their usage policies.

Also i cant really see any reason why its a bad idea to use strong wording with them. I think its good if they all kinds of varied responses from 'pretty please with ice cream on top' to 'you are going to lose money' to outright 'im raged and i hate you now'. The idea is they are dealing with an unpredictable mob of people.

We have also done this over and over and over again. 'please youtube restore video/account'. We keep having to do it tho. There isn't a policy change to prevent this. there isn't accountability for when they change their mind. If they put something back up and previously said 'its a violation of policy' then I want to know what has changed that it can go back up. I dont trust them. Companies are market driven and fear driven more so than driven by any sense of right and wrong or morality. You dont think half those people are laughing saying 'what are they gonna do? not come to youtube anymore? HAHAHA'.

They obviously think they can do whatever they want. They can do whatever they want, however we, as the audience, can also do whatever we want. They need us in a certain capacity - advertisement viewers and clickers. We only need them in the capacity of a content distributor. The technology is out there so that we can limit our ability to see their advertisements while preserving our ability to view the content.


personally i'm sick of it. sick and tired of having to beg them stop being douchebags - over and over and over again. I want them to lose money, i want them to write new policy, i want them to fire douchebags that dont get it.

what if for 1 week people didnt view any ads or at least didn't click on them?
what if one day, just for one day, no one clicked, even an hour. What if they had normal pageviews but no click throughs?

contact companies that advertise on youtube. tell them that while you love their products, you wont be clicking on their ads on youtube. Tell them that youtube seems to favor advertising revenue from scientology over the business they do with youtube. Tell them you are blocking all ads on youtube and so is everyone else.

I agree but i doubt we can get millions of people to stop clicking the ads, its just too much, and will interfere with our other protests and stuff since we will be too busy.

I wonder if we should get myspace involved in this, like post comments on high music artist's pages.
