I still think Level Up is ftw, but then again, Boston seems to be doing Party Harder, so the rest of the world can do whatever it wants!

alot of the melbanons are thinking of doing child labour because on one of the aus current affairs programs (today tonight) did an expose on the melbourne church using child labour on monday july 9th, so it's REALLY relevent to us. if we go out with child labour we might get some general public angry.

Re: A theme for August...

Why do we need a theme?

From what I have seen, the themes do add a bit of spice to a protest, but it is kind of a burden on others. It is not the spice we need (The spice must flow).

What I think we should do is if we need themes, start with local themes. Each region plan out their own theme based on local tastes and culture.

Such as, Detroit could do something with our massive Stargate sitting in Hart Plaza. Clearwater could take advantage of it being summer and beaches and things.

It could also keep our local emphasis going and bring regional brotherhood together.

think about it.

Re: A theme for August...

I would like to do a vague theme, but one that i think should be addressed... i think we should just do frontgroups... narcanon, criminon, delphi, and many many many more.

That was the problem with it - it was under-cooked.

I have two issues with the discussion so far:

First, some of the scams referred to seem to me to be fraudulent schemes run by scientologists, rather than front groups for scientology. There's no point in protesting individuals. We need to stay on target.

Second, I think that the whole "front groups" thing is too broad to have any bite. I think we'd be much better off choosing one of the fronts and getting into the minds of the public that it is a front for scientology - a way that they try to catch recruits.

Just my 2 cents

Re: A theme for August...

Why a global theme? To break through the noise and make an issue get talked about in the press by virtue of being in every protest and press release this month. If we're just out there having a general party, it's not much of a story to report except "Anonymous are out protesting. Again. In other news...."

Of course, local situation might dictate that the global theme is put aside and that the focus is on another issue which is more pressing - such as child labor in Australia.

And taking a break from themes altogether just to celebrate good times, and take a breath, is fine too, but toatlly abandoning an overarching issue makes it less relevant and less interesting for the press. It'll just be more attention whores standing around protesting about Scientology, instead of attention whores in pirate garb protesting abuse in the Sea Org.

I say we go with either Party Hard II or Cult Fiction. Whatever the theme is, it needs LULZ because our numbers are way down and around here it promises to be over 100 degrees at the next protest. I don't know how hot its going to be at other places, but in Sacramento, the more LULZ the better.

THIS

time to celebrate what we've managed to do in 6 short months.

time to take a break from focusing on getting everything in line with a theme.

time to bring back lulz.

also, theme threads usually start up in the think tank. there's three in there right now. that's probably why you didn't know about them, eh? :)

also also, i like party hard 2: electric boogaloo

EDIT: also also also anonymouse quit copypastaing your fail -- THE PARTY AIN'T OVER

Re: A theme for August...

The people who came in February for "lol the internet is out on the street, I wonder if we'll get mauled by lions" and the people who came out in March for "lol the internet is out in the street and didn't get mauled by lions last month" has had their fun. They might come back later, but let's not annoy them online like if we were Ron Paul supporters.

I find it useful to say "by the way, there's another protest on <date> with theme <x>" because they hang on IRC but don't follow protest sites, but to be all about scientology all the time would make me a pain in the arse.

Re: A theme for August...

After Reading over this thread I have some comments.. Toga would be fun, but it would be better for September - Haloween being on the way. Seems a better month to dress up as Body Tetans.

The playing Doctor sounds frigging great...... But with them trying to claim we're being paid by shrink... they could turn that into internal PR from HELL.

Cult Fiction does have a catchy sound to it... But at the same point I'm not so sure about the appeal to the general public..

Then again a lot of the promoting videos were heavy on the in jokes and anon jargon.. If I had no clue who you were and say some of the vids with the weird lingo.. I don't think I'd want to go to a protest.

Just a few observations.. Really you guys would do good the always have an extra month planned in advance.

By the way, are there any movies coming out that could be tied into the theme somehow? Call it parasitic hits..
