Scientology and Star trek

So Hubbard, meets Gene Roddenberry one day and strikes up a conversation

H: i love the show gene, esp how your characters are drawn from all races and cultures

GR: Thanks

H: but i just wondered, with all that diversity, ive never seen an episode with a Scientologist in it, why is that ?

GR:Thats because its set in the FUTURE......

Nice one. Now we need a star trek parody where they find xenu's prison (original series of course).

Re: Scientology and Star trek

Alright, so the search brought me to this topic. I've decided to add to it.

Today I told my friend my spiel about scientology (the beliefs, the crimes, etc.). When I got to the part about the OT's and started quoting some OTVIII's I've read about on the forum when she stopped me and said, "I was just watching Star Trek (tos) the other night, the second episode, and the villain was a guy who kept gaining more and more powers (lasers from the eyes, flying, etc); he'd try to bring people to his cause, and you knew when someone was turning into something like him when their eyes turned silver. Then Kirk marooned them on a planet." Or something to that nature. I'm not familiar with much of ToS. Is it possible that Gene Roddenberry was actually referencing scientology?

Within my house on a shelf are the entire Star Trek ToS. I'm going to look for that ep now. Is the first series?
