Ideas for the National Mall Rally

See breaking news thread for more info, DC anon is looking for more ideas as to what exactly to do while in such a high visibility area.

Here is the technically designated area. Lots of room, steps, and areas to set up food/sound equipment as a natural stage. Plus lots of room for games and dancing. For scale, each of these photos have about 150 people.




We're not anticipating any kind of problem in spreading out down the sides of the reflecting pool as long as we don't harass the people directly in the monuments. NO fliering or defacing the Vietnam Wall or Korean monuments PLEAAAASE. Handing out fliers to the billions of tourists is win, hanging fliers on anything in the area is fail. And no chalk, the whole area is designated a monument. No anything shaped like a gun either (like water guns). They get uppity. I WILL CHECK ON WATER BALLOONS, BUT ASSUME NO AT THIS POINT.

If you're going to be bringing any equipment (tables, "fair games", a moon bounce, kiddie pools, etc...and please DO! lol) just let us know so we can amend the permit and make sure they know exactly what we'll be using. We're also going to cover the sound system, om nom noms, LOTS of drinks (it'll be 6 hours in the summer in DC so stay hydrated), and maybe some kind of shaded shelter for overheated Anons.

Tiny bit of "fail." We got the best location on the Mall. :) Unfortunately....it's about a 20 minute hike down the mall from the closest metro stop. But turning that into a WIN! We don't have a permit to "March" down the mall, but we'll have to do it anyways just to get to the location, lol.

I have several questions.

Can we go into the reflecting pool?

What is the situation with Busses? If region specific anons decide to charter a bus (lets say boston) will they need a permit? If so, where can they purchase/obtain permits from?

Will this be srsfknbsns protest, lulzy protest, or a mixture of the two?

What is the situation on food? I know several cities had issues with what foods were acceptable by law.

Reflecting Pool -- Only to drown yourself for tax exempt status (no)

Busses -- Roads closed for constuction immediately around it. Busses need a permit to get into DC. DC department of transportation provides them for $50, most bus companies can get them for you. I wouldn't reccomment bussing to the mall from your hotel, take the metro to Smithsonian.

Srs/Lulz -- A mix, we need a serious message but to get it across in a lulzy, wtf are they doing way. We dont have the numbers to be noticed normally. Maybe a giant longcat fighting a giant tacgnol float?

Food -- We havent had a problem with this before, we should be ok, doing research into laws on the mall.

Catnarok confirmed for March on the National Mall.

Maybe another city will provide Tacgnol

Actually the closest metro station is Arlington cemetery. If you walk out, cross the key bridge and go around the Lincoln memorial you will end up right at the protest site.

I think the Foggy Bottom stop is just about as close

Last time I stayed overnight in DC for a rally was in 2004, and the Hotel Harrington was the closest and cheapest site for me and my 4 friends (one on floor). Hotel Harrington, Washington DC Tourist Hotel close to Capitol and White House

Maybe someone from DC should look into getting a group rate on a block of rooms? You'd probably have to walk in and secure a contract with your name.
