Operation: Of the Nation
Some of the hosts of National Public Radio shows are showing some interest in topics about Scientology. For example, Diane Reahm seemed to be critical of it earlier this July. Despite this, typical short stories portray Anonymous as amature protesters who don't know much at all.
Look: "Talk of the Nation" is the most listened to program on NPR. People who listen to this show like to talk about the news to everyone they know; have you ever met these people? That's what they do. The plan is to pitch a story: the real story of Anonymous, with most of our positions and defenses explained. People deserve to know who they're talking about before they pass judgement. Anonymous isn't just a collective of strong opinions but of facts that endanger the American public and Federal Government. Please comment on any specific ideas of what must be said. Also, let us decide what day it falls on. How about Thursday, 17th of July? Most importantly, who's going to do it? Discuss. *UPDATE* Arnie Lerma first volunteered to speak. After contacting others, both Boris Korczak and Mark Bunker have agreed to participate in the operation. Last edited by wat; 07-08-2008 at 06:45 PM. Reason: Update |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
One radio interview had a fake-anon or a jackass-anon that said things like "I just want to bring the Church down. I enjoy destruction." We need to tell her if she does a public appeal for interviews, she will get people like that. She should go to a picket instead.
Journalists on deadline have the temptation when faced with a complex situation, with lawsuit worries, to devote X minutes of air time to Scientologist spokespeople and X amount of air time to Anonymous, and then not summarize but just say, "and there you have it. Quite a controversy." One way to get around this is not to have the issue be ALL the sins of Scientology, which would be a ten-hour documentary, but to focus on a specific issue, like the RPF, or minimum wage violations, or asbestos on the Freewinds. Despite the temptation to bring up Xenu, it's not a crime to believe kooky things, so we should focus on the crimes. And, unfortunately, the journalist must mention Tom Cruise, because almost every article does so. The Anons need a snappy answer to any Tom Cruise question, like he must be a victim of CoS's forced, intrusive sex-history questions and other prying, and the fact that these are not kept confidential. |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Anyone send these people some press packs and harpoons yet? At least then the interviewer would know how to talk to an anon and what to talk about.

Talk of the Nation is only on weekdays. On Friday they only talk about Science, so it must be Monday-Thursday. It can be July 14-17 if we want to get word out before the >9000 protest. If we want to wait until the Media has got our eyes on us, we should talk the week after, on July 20-23. The likelihood of my preparation is questionable, so experienced speakers are encouraged to speak on behalf of Anonymous. *UPDATE* According to terms of use, if one transmits any message or material anonymously, certain features will become unavailable. It is not specified if story pitching is included in this. Also, attachments are not allowed in certain emails. We can figure out when to send the Press Package soon enough. If anyone wants to be a candidate to communicate with NPR, please step forward and I'll tell you what is needed to do. They will be able to communicate more easily with an identifiable person. This can be someone that's already a known critic of Scientology or supporter of Anonymous, or a victim of namefagging. Discuss now please. Last edited by wat; 07-06-2008 at 03:15 PM. |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Experience has shown me that if you want to get good press coverage you gotta contact them. Don't wait for them to call you.
As to things I would like to see emphasized:

Personally I think Magoo or WBM should do this, since they obviously could do it justice, and will be at the Capitol on the 19th. If they stay the weekend to go live the week after, it would be great. If they come before it and air on Thursday, it would still be a two-day stay at D.C. On the other hand, this might require a fundraiser, unless they don't mind. |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
I sent a private message to Tory, but I don't know how to contact Mark. I hope this works out, Anonymous and the Old guard need more people listening and understanding what is happening.
"Magoo" on this website is in fact, Tory Christman, correct? |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Still have not found a way to include zip file in email. Help?
*edit* Okay I figured it out, but is it safe to send a file that I downloaded myself? Can this result in namefagging? *edit* Last edited by wat; 07-08-2008 at 06:53 PM. Reason: Figured it out. |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Hai guise:
Arnie Lerma is confirmed for Brawl; Boris Korczak is confirmed for Brawl; and Mark Bunker is confirmed for Brawl. ![]() Tory Christman may be an awesome addition if possible, but she is busy at the moment. Regardless, once the story is ready to be pitched, and if it is excepted, anticipate EPIC WIN. Last edited by wat; 07-08-2008 at 06:55 PM. |

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
If you're that worried about namefagging, use a secured email place like hushmail or a throwaway account.

Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Pitching the story is not through email but through NPR's message system. Therefore they will only be aware of what name I put on the contact information, and my IP address. That's is why I'll have proxy.
I'm concerned with whether a file that is on My Computer will display properties with my name on it. Otherwise I must get Arnie Lerma to download the press pack. Anyone know about this? FGSFDS I'll get Arnie to do it. Unfortunately NPR has some sort block on proxies or some shit, and I couldn't get it to submit. I need to learn my internets. Re: Operation: Of the Nation
Arnie submitted a pitch including links of two press packs. Local time was 5:35 PM. Also, Mr. Lerma has stated that he did a story approximately 8 weeks ago on NPR, and that they would get back to him for another story that they delayed.
Moar info as it arrives.
