In terms of the hug raid (and any other of the good ideas here) - I still think we need to just keep away from the Scieno buildings as much as possible, unless we're there protesting. We don't want to give them an excuse to say we're harassing them in any way, shape, or form.

Running around the rest of downtown raising awareness is encouraged - just be safe and all that.

I have been interested in speaking out against Scientology for many years now, and I am very interested in attending one of these protests. Unfortunately, I've only just discovered Enturbulation and I haven't had enough time to prepare for it. All I have is a Guy Fawkes mask, and I'd make a sign but I don't know what to put on it. I am also having trouble understanding exactly what is going to happen; what you do during these, where they are, etc.

If someone could help me out with a general "What we are going to do on Saturday and how you can help us" PM, that'd be rockin.

I am also paranoid that the Clams are going to get me, so if I could buddy up with someone from East County for the day that would really put my mind at ease.

Sorry to gush all this in my first post, but this is all new to me. :D

Welcome! I am not the official greeter here but I just want to reassure you that you really don't need to do a lot of preparation, though it would help to know some about what CO$ is up to. Bring your mask, a trash bag, some comfortable dancing shoes and a sign if you like.

Last protest people just met out in front of Horton Plaza between 10-11am. Then we walked a few blocks up to the CO$ building and Rick-rolled them. We danced on their doorstep, sang Happy Birthday to LRON, ate cake in dishonor of him, sang more songs, hollered a few chants, cheered honking cars supporting us, cheered the party van and it's drivers, and other miscellaneous nonsense.

Then we went back to Horton Plaza, passed out flyers, talked to any one who would listen, ate pizza, shared it with homeless people, preached about the evils of CO$, sang more songs etc.

Then we went on a winding march through the downtown area and went back to CO$ building to tuck them in for the night.

All in all it was just a lot of fun and we gave out a lot of good info.

Come and join us. You probably won't even see many, if any, CO$ members there so don't worry. You have a mask, the desire and two feet (hopefully, if not bring your wheelchair). Just come and have fun and keep your face covered and you'll be fine. San Diego Police will be on hand and they are very cool as long as we respect them and the law.

Park a few blocks away or take the trolley. We be there with masks on. You can't miss us.

Be more paranoid and just assume that everyone you talk to is a CoS plant. This seems to work for me... I watch what I say to EVERYONE, but also welcome everyone as one of us. If they're sending in OSA plants, all they risk doing is having one of their own educated... so there's really no risk. IN my opinion, our power lies in the fact that we don't trust each other... but we don't need to. Anyone who helps the cause is one of us... and anyone who does stupid stuff (anything illegal, immoral, or unethical that might hurt the cause) is asked to stop... and if they don't stop, we turn them over to the cops (this hasn't happened yet). We don't have ties to each other (unless we know each other outside of anon), so we have no problem telling people who are causing problems to leave (again, this hasn't happened so far)

Since EVERYONE is on watch for inappropriate activity, any attempts by them to inject a troublemaker will fail miserably. If you see anyone doing anything illegal or malicious, ask them to stop. If anything starts to get out of hand, yell "AIR RAID" at the top of your lungs, then drop to the ground. If you hear someone else yell "AIR RAID", yell it and drop to the ground. On the off chance that anything happens, this gets everyone out of the way and allows police to come in and take care of the troublemakers.

We're a pretty welcoming group... I wouldn't think you'd need to have a partner. In fact, a partner would really put you more at risk. We police ourselves, so if you have any questions about anything, just ask.

Finally - you need to list a method of off-site contact. We can't be reliant on Enturb. A few of us have made dummy email accounts, and used them to register dummy myspace accounts. I'd recommend doing this, so that if plans change while Enturb is down (as it often is right before and after the protests) we can still communicate.
