Re: Montreal, QC
re: flags. if you want to get one, for the protest or for yourself, you basically have to get a quote, though large sizes will be over 100$. i'd suggest checking out The Flag Shop 'cause they have a local store. it's the one near Lionel-Groux that sonofaxeman is talking about.
anyway, i've been MIA this week and probably will be in terms of planning. Real Life is making me unable to really help this month, but i will be there for 4/12 and be bringing a few extra people hopefully. couple of suggestions to remember/work on for April: 1) Never assume. Want something, bring it yourself. It felt like we were low on handouts 'cause 2/10 everyone brought their own and thus we had extra. 3/15 seems like everyone assumed the other guy would bring them. Always bring some yourself. Even if it's just twenty business cards printed on your home printer. 1/4th quarter fliers and business cards worked very well, and the party hat "fliers", but try and make them bi-lingual! Or french only. We're in Quebec after all and in a french neighbourhood. 2) Meeting when? This is minor, but we should probably change our protest start time to 11:30. Both times it's said we start at noon, but we always seem to leave at 11:30. Anyone showing up at the park a little late to find an empty parking lot will be a bit confused and might just go home. I almost did. 3) Four corner talking heads. People on each corner of the intersection handing out pamphlets and answering questions. Two per corner, no one likes standing alone. There should be someone with them that's comfortable talking with people in both languages, or one person per language, to explain why we're doing this. Side note, one of our problems is a lot of us are english and at least some of us don't feel we can explain properly what's going on for whatever reason. If you're able/interested in talking to people, speak up! 4) Intersections and crossroads. I noticed this while watching some of the LA footage. We're at an intersection. If you have a sign, why not just walk around the cross walk? We could have one of the "Honk if you think Scientology's a cult" signs and one of the more specific ones with a website just walking around in a circle following the crosswalks. We're not in anyones way because the people would always be moving and any cars waiting at the red light will see the signs. 5) Pedestrian! Game on. Careful of crowding the sidewalk. If we're stuck on the one side now, that's fine. Just try and keep the sidewalk for people walking. Why not also give them a flier as they pass as well? 6) Fag or no fag? We really didn't have much of a problem with it, but just something I'd like to point out. Could we try not to use "fag" at the IRL protests? Going around online the main complaint I get from people, other then "find a real protest!", is that on Enturb "fag" is used a lot. Yes, 4chan, I know, but that's not really a good explanation for normal people about why it's used here. Someone asked me if Anonymous was originally an anti-gay group :/ not something we really want to be associated with. So anyway, I think it should probably be dropped altogether, but if we could at least drop the use of "Sci-fag" at protests, that'd be awesome. 7) Fliering. Do it! Or leaving You Found The Card cards around when you're out. Or talk to friends and family. Or anything that will get people thinking about what's going on. While a higher turn out for protests is awesome, our main goal is to wake people up, let them know what's going on and to find out for themselves. oh, and the talk of food and drink? bring what you want, but also bring some straws for the paranoid so we don't have to take off our masks to drink ~_^ well i'm out for now. good luck with everything, see everyone in April! ps. what happened with the Epic Posing Guy Fawkeses picture? |

Re: Montreal, QC
Thanks for the link to the Flag place!
I like the crosswalk idea anonymouse514. Although, like I did on March 15th, I urge you to actually do it legally and wait for the walking signals. Please don't jay-walk like those Scion kids did. (Kudos to anon_with_goggles for yelling for the cops xD!!!) I also agree with keeping the sidewalks clear for pedestrians. If you see someone coming down the sidewalk, yell out for anon to clear the way, in both French and English. Pick up yours and other people's trash. Like the first protest video I saw, I believe it'd make us look good to keep a good impression for Anonymous. We messed up with that bag with spray paint and the sparklers, so we must regain our good looks. Although Anon is already handsome enough ;) And for the Anongirls, they are hawt enough (Couldn't leave you out :)) Fliers, banners like the giant red one. French and English versions! Also, the "fag" thing is natural to us, if you can control yourselves, let's not use the term "fag" I did it myself, and now that I look at it, it was quite stupid. Also, if anyone can get walkie-talkies for communicating with different "Anon groups" I think it'd be a big help. The picketers can radio in the Anons on the crosswalks, the crosswalkers can radio in Anons who have gone to eat and/or warm up in McDonalds or have gone to get more magic Scion wands at the Dollarama. These are just some thing I thought of. |

POSTERS
Here's poster 1 of the posters I'm working on this weekend. Moar to come.
This is a modified version of a poster I found elsewhere. It is aimed towards the general public. ![]() Suggestions/Criticisms welcome. :) Please dont take this version to print off straight up, as I will probably need to change text font and some stuff when I make the switch to french version. If it meets approval, I submit a request for french translation for the french version. |

Re: Montreal, QC
So I guess the idea of as many anons as possible getting copies of the same flyer, or going to a copy place together and splitting the cost...is out?
If anyone is interested in this idea, let me know. I would like to get it done next saturday (April 29th) If you don't know what idea I'm talking about, you can see it here: Montreal, QC I maybe able to bring 2 2-way radios to the protest...but this is a big maybe. I use to have 2, but my dad gave them to my uncle without asking me (even though I bought them)...so if he still has them, then I'll bring them 100%...but there's only like 20% chance or less that he still has them @ anonbear Any news on a permit for longueuil? |

Re: Montreal, QC
Hey guys, just a couple of things. First, I have someone's tempera paint and sharpies which I'll be returning at the next protest. Sorry about that ;^_^
Second, I know I'll be searching for the French tl;dr fliers for this idea, but if anyone else wants to try this as well, here's the idea that was posted: Quote:

Re: Montreal, QC
@ Shortie The Walrus: I forgot to ask you for another Party Hat before we split :( Is it possible to bring one and give it to my two Anon-friends for me? Same goes with any signs no one wants to hold onto. I've still got the "DOUBT IS NOT A CRIME" sign :P

Re: Montreal, QC
I have an idea...
Our local Co$ is located in the middle of nowhere. (let's face it, Papineau and Mont-Royal is not the most crowded intersection in Montreal.) So why aren't we doing a pre-04/12 raid downtown on lunchtime and giving away hundreds of bilingual flyers? We going to reach way more people. :D

Re: Montreal, QC
Anyone here have seen The Profit? Wow, this movie is bad beyond all recovery, still it needed exposure.
Where on Earth can I find a place where a bad movie can get exposure? Wait a second, this place exists on our backyard... Fantasia!!!! Is there any Anons who have connexion with anyone there? We need this movie to be submitted for 2008 edition! I invite every Montreal Anon to write down to Fantasia organisers at http://www.fantasiafest.com/pre2008/en/submit/ . Give them a hint about the movie and how campy this movie is. Also, contact the filmakers to tell them about the movie fest and let them know this movie festival is a place for independant filmaker: http://www.theprofit.org/

Re: Montreal, QC
I seen The Profit...yesterday while I was a work
![]() Indeed, it was horrible. I was watching it on youtube and like 3 min into the first part, I was about to turn it off...but it wasn't like I had anything better to do so I kept watching:-? But it does give you a good viewpoint of who L Ron actually was. As for a pre-raid downtown to hand out flyers...if we get enough people who are up for that, I'm all for it. But at lunch time on a weekday, I doubt many people could come. |
