Belfast, NI
Well here we go again, I think most of the arrangements for the last should be good enough but this time we need a bigger media push.
Some ideas- 1.Posters/flyers about belfast before the 12th to raise awareness/supporters. 2.More people blacked up (yea I know i wasn't but it looks pretty good so im gonna do it for the next one) 3.Put a news paper add asking ex-scientologists to come forward. Ideas? Well anyway my address is gregg_carson@hotmail.com so add me if you didn't allready |

I think since the focus is reconnection we should focus on seeing if we can find anyone who had been disconnected by Scientology and have them either be there in person to tell there story via megaphone or put it on flyer's.
Could be hard tracking them down but it would lead to epic win if we found some people, the media would lap that up |

There was former scifag there. I'll think he got the details of the next one. I hope he did. If not we can always get a speech or a tape from Steve Keller (see op clambake for infos).
We'll get on to the press again. Maybe we should try a bit smallewr scale this time, say N. Belfast news, community telegraph etc. also, most epic congratulations to everyone on march 15. we won >9000 internets. |

Yeah, smaller media. And everone should be looking for ex-scientologists or else people who are currently disconnected. It is a pretty good idea like, it would really annoy the scientologists in the building, just keep your eye out for that fag from last time who was taking the pictures.

trying to get some of the local religious clergy type folks might be a good idea too. write out a letter highlighting the abuses of scientology, and then adding at the end that they are trying to get religious status.
this could raise awareness in the churches and with the media, all we need is one church guy to say something, then the others might. also! has anyone seen this youtube video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=l2w6Dn0Sfd8 (don't know how to do all this site's doohickeys yet...) basically, we get a load of cards with that url on it. Anonymous goes viral. could be fun! and we need to raise awareness of the next protest. someone post a few of those posters around the university places. ok. err. now i've barked my orders.... |

Does forbidden planet have the V masks in stock or do I need to order them in? If so do other people who don't have masks all want to get them ordered at once?
As for a jacket I'm gonna charity shop it, it will be win of the most epic kind if everyone at the protest was blacked up and had a EFG mask. Oh and I posted it on ED but is anyone up for a meet up before the next protest? just to get stuff sorted maby go poster stuff or hand out flyer's about the 12th or even just go drinking. |

i ordered my V mask from the Forbidden Planet site for the first protest, which i didn't end up getting to anyway. it still hasn't turned up.
maybe they could order them in to the shop? the guys in the upstairs bit said that the website sucked, and not to count on it. they also noticed my Anonymous badge after Party Hard, and asked how it went :D they might come to the next one. we need more recruits! |

EDIT: Also I'm sure we've all seen this http://youtube.com/watch?v=aUeWKhSkqUU by now, but it's worth remembering. What about bringing along an old or spare mobile phone on the day (even register for those free SIMs from O2, untraceable yo) and giving them the option to call right then, right there? Might be the tipping point some need. Last edited by beechan42; 03-21-2008 at 01:02 AM. |

well, we need to try and find some people who have been affected by this, in our area. that scifag who came outside apparently has a sister, but i'm pretty sure they're not disconnected. we need to start trying to find people around here.
any ideas? forums to go and ask? ads in newspapers? on the radio? we need to try and reach out, and we need somewhere for them to reach back to. it's a good video, just not sure if it's going to work here. have many people been separated here? also, we should put a "troubles" spin on it :D you know, to bring the message home to Norn Iron. ok. |

Put a couple of ads in the Belfast Tele maybe, or try ringing in to those early-morning radio shows (Nolan, Frank Mitchell, Citybeat etc) to raise awareness maybe? They have a much larger audience than you'd think (Nolan being the "biggest show in the country!!!") I'm not too sure on the Troubles idea to be totally honest, seems like it could cause more trouble than it's worth (no pun intended). Shame, because a very simple parallel can be drawn between the Disconnected and the Disappeared.. Last edited by beechan42; 03-21-2008 at 01:54 AM. |

i thought that troubles thing was quite bad taste, even by my standards lol... though i'm pretty sure it wouldn't stop the scifags using it, we gotta win the PR war.
that radio station idea is good, we need to work on that. who's the best on the phone? not me, by the way, i can't do it. i freeze up. it would be excellent to try and get it that way though, good call. so, someone would phone in quite soon, and ask for anyone affected by the disconnection policy to step forward? anonymity guaranteed? as in, we're not going to exploit them, unless they want to be part of it. we should also have some sort of statement worked out, at least the key points about the policy. when i googled it earlier, i found an article about a UK disconnection letter from the 60s :( is there any way of having an article put in those free Belfast magazines? like, the listings ones? i know The Vacuum mentioned them as a free night out :S which is funny, but... and any University stuff? magazines? message boards to pin stuff to? the more articles we can get, the more publicity for Anon, and the more win for Belfast. ok, here's the link to The Vacuum: http://www.thevacuum.org.uk/ and the main players: http://www.thevacuum.org.uk/main/info.html and a BBC "Talk NI" messageboard... they probably wouldn't bow to pressure to remove anything said, remember John Sweeney. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbni/F2125954 ok, will have more time to research later. house. sucks. |

Re: Belfast, NI
I never got IRC, so ill probably just keep posting here
In other news I got a suite today (£1, gotta love charity shops) and a black tie (£3, that's x3 more than my suite), now all I need that the elusive V mask, if anyone manages to get a spare one somewhere I'll pay for it or just tell me where it was found and I have no way to order shit online (paranoid parents and silly bank policy). Anyway PM me if you have or can get a spare V mask. |
