Get a full on V outfit instead, much better to have a uniform reflecting the protest imagery than something seemingly out of thin air.

I think the military uniform is an ok idea but probably best left alone. I just thik it will cause hassle. The $cifags will be all over it with crys of "the Army is persecuting our religion!!!!!" which is obviously not the case, but we know what they are like.

I'd be cautious about broadcasting music over a PA. We do not have a license for "entertainment", spoken word is fine, so having people speak about disconnection, etc. We're still going to have megaphones and boomboxes for rickrolling, so don't worry about that. It's low-tech, granted, but at the end of the day, it's loud enough that people hear it and join in. The other thing is really, that this time, it's not a party, it's bringing light to some of the CoS' worst abuses.

If you want a cheap jacket, I'd advise charity shops or Primark.

We don't want to upset the police - so far they have been very good to us. Lets try and keep it that way by not giving them reason to get lary. Music over the PA would be lush, but we have managed well enough so far with boomboxes and megaphones

I got the mask today (Forbidden planet FTW!) and my mate is giving me a black coat which looks like a jacket, But I'll look through primark and oxfam and such just before the 12th to se if I can find a better one.

if the thread was tl;dr - basically, Davey's Cat found out about a lib dem MP (and lib dem isn't crazy, unlike UKIP) called Norman Baker who just so happens to not be keen on $cientology.

Myself, Davey's Cat and AnonNaEireann have agreed we 3 will write to him explaining a little about us, and expressing an interest in getting friendly with him.

Here is my draft:

I am part of the internet based movement known as "Anonymous". As you perhaps know, Anonymous is trying to raise awareness of the crimes and abuses of the Church of Scientology. On April 12th, we will be staging protests outside Church of Scientology centres throughout the world, with the focus being on the Church's policy of disconnection. In the UK, there will be protests all over the country, with the largest turn out expected in London (Queen Victoria Street and Tottenham Court Road).

I write to you because it has come to our collective attention that you have in the past been a public critic of the Church, and that you therefore might be willing to aid us in our struggle. There are currently plans for a global petition, and we in the UK (specifically London right now, but all UK locations are encouraging people) are leading the way right now. Today saw the first petition sheet go online, ready for people to download and print. The aim is that by April 12th - everyone who attends the London protest (On March 15th, this was estimated to be between 700 and 1200, we expect more this time) will have got at least one page of signatures. That's 25 signatures times 700 (minimum hopefully) people. That makes 17,500 signatures. We then plan to bring more petition sheets to the protest and have members of the public sign as well.

The aim is then to present the petition to Downing Street, but we would dearly appreciate your assistance in this matter. As a critic of the Chuch, we hope that you might consider helping us organise the delivery of the petition - something Downing Street is less than helpful about.

We would also like to present you with some information that has recently come to light. It seems to us (Anonymous) that each day brings a new mistake by Scientology - what we like to call "footbullets" - as in they have shot themselves in the foot whilst aiming at us. We received a number of leaked emails from someone inside the higher echelons of Scientology (we do not know who they are, or what part of Scientology they belong to but they are believed to be at least SeaOrg and possible RTC - both high levels of management) who we affectionately know as "DeepClam" (clam being a term used to refer to Scientologists).

It should be noted that these emails cannot be proved. That is perhaps one of the negative aspects to being an organisation whose members are anonymous, even to each other. However, we certainly trust our source, and often the actions of the Church are exactly those that the emails suggested might happen. They will likely be of little use in an administrative environment such as parliament or to the police until such a time as "DeepClam" goes public, but you might like to look over them.

Recently, Scientology leaked a propaganda video featuring many important people with interesting job titles. Within moments of it coming to Anonymous' attention, it was being picked apart and quick research revealed a number of the people featured were not who they claimed to be, or had misleading titles that were not necessarily truthful. Please criticise away, we will need group input

This letter should simply ask for his assistance in delivering the petition. Do not include all the gory details concerning foot bullets and Deep Clam, these are not important or worse may even turn out to be an elaborate hoax or simple mistakes. Explain why we're anonymous: because of how the Co$ attacks its critics. Explain that we are masked. Point out that Downing Street are unlikely to allow a group of masked individuals to show up on their doorstep. The number of signatures, the turnout at the protest etc. are all irrelevant. Just tell him we need his help and ask nicely.

Also don't use the word cult. Simply point out that we're protesting the Co$' criminal and human right abuses.

Our supposition is that Downing street is not going to be keen on a number of masked individuals turning up on their doorstep, and we will likely need some help convincing them otherwise. Unfortunately it is imperative that we do remain masked, and as such anonymous, due to the Scientologists repeated attempts at harassment and intimidation. Anyone who delivers the petition (We think maybe three people actually in Downing street, everyone else either not present or opposite the street) will likely be regarded as a "ringleader" of Anonymous (despite the fact we have no leaders) and will be singled out by the Scientologists. We are however, prepared to risk this with our identities intact.

Rewrite

Maybe spare the stuff about numbers and pages of signatures, just say "by the end of April we expect to have around 20,000 signatures". The ends is more important than the means.

EDIT: Just out of interest, what is this guys past involvement with the CoS?

Uhh, I believe he was/is-to-a-lesser-extent an active critic.

He's got a reputation as a dogged investigator who's not afraid to speak out - if we can get him to start mentioning anonymous or current CoS events (like the charges in Belgium etc) then this would be a big win for us.

While I fully agree with making the letter short and to the point - perhaps you could replace "disconnection" with something like - the practise of breaking apart families .... or something of that nature.
