Re: London, UK

Minor question for londonfags, which is better for the protest, why can't we be friends by smash mouth or by war?

So yeh, I was thinking that could happen at the 'wing' of the protest, rather than in the very middle.
Perhaps... Then again, at TCR, you have the natural "break in the line" where the road leads off; you could set up a Speaker's Corner there, and give people space to gather without further occupying the pavement.

It's a pretty good story actually, his Open Source Software analogy is rather brilliant.
I've had another contact come forward also - so is this idea of a PR corner/speaker's corner coming together then? :)

This might seem dumb of me, but I was thinking it might be appropriate to bring tissues with us, along with our water and cetera. These stories make me go a bit.

Re: London, UK

Here was what I thought would be the best setup for speakers at TCR -

Click the image to open in full size.

As the main body of the protest will be spread off down to the right, it's probably the best place we can get thats not rammed with people but still fairly central. Also it'd be clearly visible from the other side of the road and the Scientologists building because there are no crowd barriers there. If we put the PA thing facing out into the road the CoS people would hear nothing but our speakers all day.

Also, am I the only one who thinks we should save our speakers for TCR? Seems a bit pointless to have them at QVS as theres no foot traffic and theres no way the people inside the building would hear us.

That corner is probably ideal. I recall from the March demos that by the end it had pretty much gained that status any way, so it must be intuitively obvious to some extent.

Agreed.

Also, agreed to the idea of saving the power for the PA system till TCR. It will have more impact there.

Re: London, UK

My only beef with that particular corner, though, is that a lot of cars (cabs in particular) turn into that junction off the main road (presumably to get out of the busy traffic/avoid our congestion, maybe). It's both a bit of a traffic danger and we'll get some degree of noise interference. Can't think of a better location, however, so.

This should probably be put up on the Londonlulz wiki so people are notified in advance. :)

I think by 'speaker' in this context we mean the people (ex-Scilons) coming to speak, not the gear. :p

I was exactly thinking of that! It's all gonna be a bit of a tearjacker so I fear for my mask ;) but I'll try and bring some tissues incase, and free hugs will always cheer up anyone upset!

Looks like Saturday is going to be 14°C with a small possibility of rain.
So long as the rain hold off that's pretty good considering the weather we've been having recently!

Re: London, UK

The "speakers' corner" idea is a fucking great one. I think this is definitely the way to organise things- see what worked informally last time and orchestrate the same thing this time. That corner sounds ideal- as has been said, it pretty much ended up being like that last time anyway.

Four days to go- brace for awesome!
