I enjoyed the 'Scientology is gay (as in rubbish) Tom Cruise is gay (as in happy)' banner, shame the community support guys didn't.

Can we agree on a finish time? 3:15 was way too early imo, and while I understand it might have had something to do with the guy with the boombox having to leave, we still should have stayed longer imo.
Bring moar boombox, bring moar flyers. I went through about 200 flyers in no time standing on the corner by Sainsburys, I'll bring 500 next time, depending on price. |

Aw, superballs, I won't be able to make this one; I'm working and my understudy won't cover me. Will try to figure out a way of assisting - fliers or pre-raids, stuff like that.
See y'all in May, and on the IRC if that damn thing gets working again. EDIT: Heard a rumour that scilons are planning to set up camp in Old Trafford as well. I don't know the teller's source but worth looking into. EDIT 2: Fuck. http://www.metronews.co.uk/news/s/10...centre_planned Last edited by Anonereign; 03-19-2008 at 02:37 AM. |

Banners
As I think has already been mentioned there is a strong need for banners.
Would the following slogan be acceptable, "Scientology is a cult that damages families." , or "Scientology is a cult that destroys families." ? Being Manchester and all I am guessing there must be a source somewhere of dirt cheap rolls of cloth but I can't find one at the moment. I will post one here if I find it but does anyone have any ideas? Once I have the cloth it should be relatively easy to use some A4 cardboard stencils to spray paint whatever slogan on it. Also, I think there is a need for some snappy chants for the 12th. Like , "give me a one.. scientology is a con. Give me a two... scientolgy wants money from you, give me a three... scientology won't make you free, give me a four..... Tom Cruise is a freak eyed bore etc etc . We could try and shout them across the road in turns. Anyways, just a few ideas Last edited by ninja; 03-18-2008 at 04:09 PM. |

Hmmm, theres a shop in wigan sells dirt cheap cloth at like £2 a metre, if anyone has any fabric paint or pens, i could pick up a few metres of it and then make some up on the day

Look for something like muslin or cheescloth - it's plain coloured and cheap as anything. Try checking out open markets and stuff for the cheapest materials (guess who makes costume huh?).
I think 3:15 is a good end time - because by that point most people have been standing around for about 5 hours, and it stops things getting boring. I agree that I probably could have gone on longer this time, but I also have this worky-type thing in the evening, so I'm a bit biased :-p |

More boombox?
Surely more than one would just cause pure noise? Possibly a BIGGER boombox, so we won't have to use a megaphone to make it louder. This would give us another megaphone to lead chants/speaches with.

I think this time we should have more groups of 5 on the corners of the main junction between the church and starbucks handing out fliers. A very large ammount of people pass through there and when people did it on the 15th it was very successful.

Don't know about bigger, apparently we were annoying people with what we had on Saturday. It was being discussed in IRC for a way to be found that would allow several people would have radios playing the same song so it could be heard all over but wouldn't all be focused in one place.
As promised, Scilon Trafford Bunker pics. Nothing interesting really but then there wasn't anyone or anything to take pictures of. |

Apparently someone had complained about it to the police, and they told us to take it down. They said it was in breach of the public order act section 4A This wasnt eactly true, because the POA refers to 'intentional harm', where obviously we were there to point out that scientology is evil, and homophobic. Oooh.... I want to read out the names of the dead on whyaretheydead.net, at the next protest. This goes down really well at at anti war demos. gets a lot of people interested. I reckon it would take about 20 mins. but it would probably require a certain amount of silence from the boom box. What do you guys think? Jesse x |

Hey guys, I'm from the Edinburgh anon group. I came here just to say a massive well done and thank you, specifically for the video of Sue and Tony. It brought a tear to my eye. I'm going all out on the finding of UK ex-Scn and family members. I was wondering if there was a list of prominent UK critics, that we could get in contact with in for this task? I've found a couple of leads which could be useful: http://www.escapeint.org/ - organisation that helps families (I have emailed them on behalf of the Edin group - I can also follow up for you guys too). Perhaps Tony and Sue will be interested in this site, if they haven't found them already. http://www.cultinformation.org.uk/ - does what it says on the tin Google 'Jon Atack' - he was forbidden from distributing his anti-Scn book in the UK. Big vocal critic. I've emailed him also. All the best, StormTrooperGuy |
