Re: Sunderland, UK
well since anyone with any sense would know it would be stupid to send anything insulting/threatening to the scifags it has to be either some random anon who thinks they know best or are completely retarded, or like you say the scifags trying to stop the next protest
either way if you let the police know the situation im sure theyll understand that it was probably just someone unrelated to the protests who decided to be a prick - and maybe a link to this forum might go down well, atleast theyd see that people werent planning death threats etc behind the scenes |

I'm not overly worried and you'll undoubtedly do a great job explaining (really appreciate it! :)), but there's always the niggle that someone they approach will only see the fact they're an official, rent-paying organisation that is also sacred (ha!) and look at us as a bunch of trouble-making kids and jump to conclusions and automatically take their side without looking any further into it. Let's hope the Police aren't that knee-jerk judgemental in this case. If the poster WAS threatening in any way then surely they just have to contrast it with Sunderland's two utterly unthreatening, peaceful protests so far to see how ridiculous this is. As for Operation Freakout - what about the Wikipedia article and its sources? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Freakout |

Re: Sunderland, UK
I got the stuff I printed out from the sources on the wiki page. I'm also going to give them a couple of urls, including the wiki page, so they can judge for themselves.
I'm not worried about this, its just that I don't want to go and say 'it wasn't us' if it was :/ |

Re: Sunderland, UK
They do it on Sundays...but we don't know what sundays since they are so small they can not afford every week - we have someone checking with the council. If you go onto irc you can join #sunderland and get up to date info on if they will be there this week.

Re: Sunderland, UK
If they're there it's at the Quayside Sunday Market which goes from 9.30am to 2.30pm - we went down last Sunday but they weren't there and hadn't been for a bit apparently.
I didn't get a chance to ring the council today because of work but I'm going to call tomorrow and see if they have a pitch booked - will keep you posted! |

Re: Sunderland, UK
As far as the quayside is concerned people can turn up ad hoc, so i don't think there is a pre booking system. From OCMB somebody suggested that they were going down to Darlington, again i suppose this would be now again as they are strapped for cash. I have personally seen them in Tynemouth on a Sunday but again its once in a blue moon.
There are a couple of contributors to the OCMB who know the org well 2 years ago they were down to 1 full timer and 3 part time staff and the org was only open evenings and weekends. |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Hi all, just been back from the police.
Basically, it does look rather like an anon poster. Its a Lisa McPherson one, though I'd not seen it before. Does anyone have a link to a pack full of the Feb 10th posters so I can see if its one of ours? Police were nice, though were apparently newbs. We got lost looking for the interview rooms :3 Anyway, it was all done on tape, which I can request a copy of. They would actually give me a copy of the poster (Its evidence ¬_¬). Finally, I agreed to let them fingerprint me, to show that I didn't send it. Not too keen on the prints being kept on record, but I'm not planning on comitting any crimes, and I want to distance myself from this poster rubbish. So once they see I'm nothing to do with it, they'll leave me alone. I'll keep looking, and paste a copy of the poster if/when I find it. |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Im slightly confused, why did they get the police involved if it was just a regular protest poster? or was it kind of aggressive or something?

Looks like I might have to take a Sunday morning stroll on a regular basis now ;) Yeah, did the Police say what exactly was on it that required a taped interview and fingerprints? Seems a little over the top if it was just a regular information flyer. Although whoever sent it still needs a slap. |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Talking to iviv on MSN - the phrase on the flyer the police got scared about was "we will destroy you." Now I have noticed something wrong with this. Why would a general flyer to the public have you written on it...I would understand if it was "we will destroy them.", but my bet is still on Scifag fake.

Insist heavily that the people who work at the church of Scientology get fingerprinted too.

Re: Sunderland, UK
The source for scifags at Darlington was OCMB then under Org Patrol and then under Sunderland. OK the report is about 2 years old but some of the contributors have an intimate knowledge of the org for example its said on that forum that they sell only 10 books a week. I think book commission is 15% so that wouldn't make much for the org.
Another outlet for them is the Physic fair, again there appearance seems to be ad hoc, i suppose when their limited finances allow them! |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Hi, I intend to join the april 12 protests along with at least 2 friends. Just saying so... I guess... Yeah.
Anyway. I go to newcastle on sundays and I haven't seen them around, I will keep a lookout when I visit though. However they have been known to visit Stanley Market on a saturday before now and as such I would also assume they have been to Chester-Le-St market and other local, public markets. My stepmother and myself went into the tent they had set up for "testing". It was a long time ago; the area is so poor I doubt they will visit more than once or twice a year in the hopes of getting someone from richer stock. Anyway, that's all I know of in my district. |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Hey guys, the petition forms are ready for your delectation, so print these mothers and try to get at least one page done by the 12th.
I'll also need one Sunderland volunteer to collect all the forms on the day and tally them up, and possibly post them to me at a later date. So if you're a kind soul and want to do that, shoot me a PM so I can put you on my list or regional petition people. If every UK anon gets one page of people we could be pushing 40,000 signatures. Next stop, Downing Street! Petitioning thread if you have any questions. |

Re: Sunderland, UK
Welcome snags, the more the merrier. Just changing the thread slightly some scifags have bought franchises in the McDonalds restaurant chain. I got this off the Copenhagen thread. I for one don't buy from McDonalds but just think any purchases there supports their cause.
