Andrew Morton's biography of Cruise

I finished it last night, and it ended on a rather ominous note, as it went pretty in-depth describing the cult and its aims, and the benefit it is enjoying with Tom Cruise's celebrity status and influence. It was also pretty up-to-date, as it described the many things that Katie Holmes is undergoing, and how she looks pale and drawn, and as though the weight of the world is on her shoulders.

As up-to-date as it is, there's one final chapter being written and played out her and all over the world, and that chapter is:




EXPECT US.

I bought it, but haven't read it yet. I lent it to my mom, and she just finished it. She said she had no idea scientology was so evil, and now she hates Tom Cruise.

Gotta' hand it to Andrew Morton: He really really did his homework. It pisses me off that this book has been banned in many countries. It pretty much gives the whole, unvarnished truth of things.

The thing is, Tom Cruise without scientology, seems a likable fellow. He's fucking evil though. They've twisted him, and he's gone along with it willingly.

banned? I think its just not being published in some countries but can still be imported?

After reading the biography, I honestly don't think he is. (And I wouldn't care if he was. Just sayin'...

It just seems that he would jump ship asap-Don't you think his career would come back again if he dumped the cult-he could be the one.

I've never had any time for him - just seems like a really shallow person to me - kinda like a little Fisher - Price toy man.

See I don't think he's gay or that they have something on him so much as that he's a complete control freak. Scientology feeds him the lines that he can control anything using it and it's a match made in heaven really.

Pretty much, and yeah, about as shallow as a rain puddle. I've never seen him when I didn't get the impression that he was acting. And I don't know what Hollywood saw in him, (Using past-tense, since Paramount effectively fired his ass.) but Andrew Morton quotes a lot of people who raved about Tom Cruise's talent.

He was pretty good in "The Firm," and he was less stellar but still good in, "A Few Good Men."

Other than that, he's always playing himself. You never forget that you are watching Tom Cruise. A good actor makes you believe that you are watching the character that they are playing.

(Jack Nicholson's performance in "A Few Good Men," or Gene Hackman's performance in "The Firm.")

I think he's pretty much cashed in all of his chips as an actor. His apology to Brooke Shields was too little, too late. His propaganda video, the couch-jumping incident, the way Katie Holmes looks now, the raw deal that Nichole Kidman got... All of it... He's pretty much done.

The only thing he has left, as far as I can see, is the cult and his friendship with David Miscavige. They treat him like royalty, and in return, he sells and sells and sells the cult to the world, making political in-roads, able to make unsubstantiated claims about medications and psychiatry, and anything else he decides to gibber about.

The veneer is gone, and anyone with half a brain, including those in political power, can see right through it. And for the world's sake, I dearly hope they do.
