As some already know, LRH was found with Vistaril, a psychiatric tranquilizer, in his blood stream at the time of his death. The man who spent much of his life pursuing the down fall of psychiatry dies on meds? Ex-Scientologist Robert Vaughn Young has speculated that LRH may actually have been murdered.

No I don't think so, although I still wouldn't put it past DM to pull a stunt like that. I think the crazy old bugger died from....well being a crazy old bugger. they might have been giving him tranqs to keep him from blowing a gasket at his frail old age, he was known to throw tantrums for weeks, even months at a time.

There's only one guy who would know for sure, and that's Pat Broeker

Nah... LRH was always deppressed and unstable mentally, its not really a surprise that he was on psych meds. The religion he invented is one thing and his own personal ideology another.

Well there's a lot of strong suspicion of how DM went so quickly from being a "suppressive person" to becoming the head of Scientology in only a matter of two years. Much of it is pretty obvious, but just how is somewhat of a mystery. Supposedly, L. Ron appointed one or two possible people to take over his position after he died... almost as if he planned on dying very soon. And somehow DM convinced everyone that he was the one who was chosen to take L. Ron's place.

So that possibility that David Miscaviage murdered L. Ron, or hired people to, seems to hold some water.

I do believe this has been covered before. Other than making details of his death interesting, I'm not sure how this is useful information...

From the biographies I've read on xenu.net, he was really really ill in the last years of his life. Heart problems, lung problems, digestive issues, you freakin' name it. I think he was going mad as well (paranoid, fits of rage, all that sort of thing). I think time carried him off. DM didn't have to kill LRH - old age did it for him.

I really, really wish people would stop trying to push the Vistaril = psych drug angle.

Vistaril's primary use is as an antihistamine. It's never been widely used as a "psych" drug. Like other powerful antihistamines, it also has some sedative properties. It's also been used as an anti-emetic to counter nausea.

I don't see any problem with saying LRH had been given Vistaril -- since, of course, he should have been above needing any wog medical care at all... being the messiah and all that.

Citing it as evidence he was, "on a psych drug" is pretty freaking weak though. It's, at best, a huge reach to assert that. It's not the same as having a drug like olanzapine or lithium in his system when he kicked over.

There are a lot better and more definitive things to nail the guy for.
