Lulzy idea for L Ron Hubbard Way
Gaiz,
It would be lulzy to rename L Ron Hubbard Way. Hivemind consensus seems to be to rename the street back to its original name of Berendo. LA Anons should man the harpoons and contact this number: Telephone: (626) 458-5100 LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS MAPPING & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DIVISION MAPPING & GIS SERVICES SECTION Street Name & House Numbering Unit 900 South Fremont Avenue Alhambra, CA 91803-1331 Find out what it takes to enact a change then go go go go! If worse comes to worst, we can do a ballot issue thing, but that'll take time (and probably money). **OP EDITED AND UPDATED** Last edited by Major Boyle; 07-06-2008 at 02:42 AM. |

Re: Lulzy idea for L Ron Hubbard Way
Not USAnon so I know jack...but if the signatures came from members of the public (and the proposed name was chosen well) this sounds like it's got real potential.

L. Ron Hubbard | Scientology Lies At the naming ceremony, two politicians gushed about the new name: 1. Chelsea Cochran, last seen on LA ethics Committee in 2002. She doesn't show up in LA politics otherwise. Grass Roots Venice 2. City Council member and president John Ferraro, who is deceased, according to Graham Berry. Graham Berry: "The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors and Scientology" Naming ceremony at City Renames Street: 'L. Ron Hubbard Way' My comment: since the street was part of North Berendo St., , how about renaming it back? Yahoo! Maps, Driving Directions, and Traffic My other comment - people need to attend city meetings and learn how CoS shoved the name change through, and then make an even bigger push, or this will fail. But if it succeeded, it would be great. There's an untapped silent backlash of disgust for CoS in Los Angeles. Last edited by Don Carlo; 07-01-2008 at 03:50 PM. |

Re: Lulzy idea for L Ron Hubbard Way
We'd need something that'd really piss them off, like Minton Avenue, McPherson Drive, or Body Thetan Boulevard

Re: Lulzy idea for L Ron Hubbard Way
Cape Canaveral, Florida got its "old name" back. It was renamed Cape Kennedy, and then changed back.
Berendo Street is an old name, going back to before 1910, has a middle school named after it, and is part of the history of Los Angeles. Berendo Middle School |

Wollersheim Way
The cult had a saying.."not one thin dime for Wollersheim" this would eat them up and make national news.

In their 1991 appeal, the Church of Scientology asserted that "Fair Game" was a "core practice of Scientology", and therefore protected as "religious expression". This was also stated by Scientology attorneys in the case against Gerald Armstrong, in 1984, by religious expert Frank K. Flinn.[6][7] So much for Fair Game being long retracted, 'eh? :back on topic: While I'm in a completely different time zone, I give my full support to this course of action. :) |
