Hi,

We have been working on a similar project for some time now. We don't trust Wordpress or any other third party software, so we're developing a publishing platform from scratch. We hope to launch it in the closest days.

Can I ask why you don't trust wordpress? Having setup a relatively large network of wordpress sites I know how versatile it can be. Some things take a few little hacks, but it's amazing what it can do and how different from a standard wordpress install you can make it look.

As I've said previously I think it's good to have more than one site anyway - just in case Scientology some how manages to take one down. Redundancy is good.

I really hope this project gets a good start, I'm setting the page as my default start page, it would be awesome and simple way to know whats going on as soon as I get on comp.

I agree completely. I would love for this to get going and be good. Looks like there is a lot of support for the idea already so it shouldnt have much trouble.

Wordpress has security history. It is likely that inherent problems in its codebase remain. A news site that directly challenges scientology is a prize to deface.

Indeed, but as far as I'm aware (and anyone is?) there aren't any holes anymore.

With custom salts and enhanced security through other means the threat of 0 day attacks is minimal.

Took a look at the site, and it's a good start.

suggestion: How about adding an entertainment section like other news groups do featuring the cult's lulziest antics and footbullets? Plus, there're plenty of vids to link to for the movies section too.

There's a 'bizarre' category for that sort of thing that already exists (you just can't see it yet) - there's just nothing to put in it at the moment (nothing's happened to go in it since the website launch).
