Re: What hit You the hardest?
The Co$ has a long list of crimes, but what clinched it for me a year before this whole Anonymous thing was their takeover of Clearwater, FL. I watched one video made by Mark Bunker when he was with the Lisa McPherson Trust which was about how the Clearwater PD were in cahoots with the Co$.

Paulette Cooper:
http://www.lermanet.com/paulette-coo...tte-cooper.jpg I think Paulette's story hits me the hardest. She was the very first critic of Scientology, was hit the hardest during the an unopposed period of power for Scientology, and throughout this time she was all alone (her boyfriend left her). |

Re: What hit You the hardest?
Reading the stories on Whyaretheydead and watching the Unfunny truth ( I bawwed like a baby during both)
the Youtube video declaring war on $cientology (I laughed like a maniac ) Meeting Old Guard and ex scifag and victims of Disconnection IRL had a huge effect on me. Watching The road of February 10th video (cheers Pelvidar).I felt so fucking proud and knew then i was in it for the long haul. |

Re: What hit You the hardest?
Definitely the declaration of war. I had loosely followed the entirety of what had been happening inside the cult, and I really didn't like it. I didn't follow it, but I read what had happened, and saw the video. Best call to arms ever.

Re: What hit You the hardest?
My story is exactly the same as Random Oldfag's and Rufus X. Sarsaparilla's. I found out about Lisa and the others through a Cruel Site of the Day link. I read a little Operation Clambake every now and then, and thought, "Damn, that's some evil shit, but I really can't do anything about it now, can I?" and went on about my business.
Then one night I was reading Something Awful, and someone posted that the b/tards were going to wreck the CoS's playhouse. I'd been to /b/ before, it appealed to the old-style Cruelie in me. But this, this was something new, something so magnificent in scope, I had to slice a piece off for myself. WHeee! Cruelie lulz turned into something else as soon as I re-watched The Unfunny Truth. Last time, it was just a bummer; this time, I felt that if I didn't try to do something constructive, a part of me might rot away. I wanted to do something to prevent other victims from dying. But I didn't give a rat's ass about any cultist, they could all go die as far as I cared. Then I read the "Musical Chairs" story, and it made me realize that some of the Scientologists were human and needed help. Then the stories of the children, the families, the disconnection and abuse turned me into a moralfag. And I am glad.

Maybe I'm a cynical bastard, but when I read Lisa McPherson's story, I kept thinking, "You know, there's sociopaths all over the world. One death doesn't indict the entire religion." And then I read Paulette Cooper's story, and I realized the entire point of the "religion" was to cover up for sociopaths all over the world.

Re: What hit You the hardest?
Lisa McPherson, when I was reading about her death and found the records her "keepers" kept on her as they were slowing watching her die in that room. That proved to me that they are NOT all about helping people. I saw Mike Rinder spinning it on some show and that really pissed me off. Now there are Summit tapes (I believe) of Davey spinning it and it really really really pisses me off.

Re: What hit You the hardest?
I saw an unfunny truth and everything, was interested but not really bothered. Began to follow what was going on, but not really an "activist."
Then after 3/15 (when I learned about it- lolz, late), I saw the videos of Anons being followed, then the legal papers being sent, Sean's/Ath's story, and then the Radar magazine that wrote the story about how people were intimidated out of coming again because of the legal papers. And that pissed me off, no institution should be able to make people being scared of joining a peaceful protest and engaging in civil society. I was like, "WTF, aren't we in the modern era in United States? Why are these people allowed to intimidate people out of the right to freedom of assembly and get away with it?" Then I jumped in, and then proceeded to get my two brothers involved (I didn't know it, but my sister who lived far away was also into Chanology >_>). There's your footbullet, Co$, you attempt to scare people away only makes people angry. |

Re: What hit You the hardest?
Seeing 30 years of change in Clearwater. Reading the St. Pete Times' stories on the cult. Conversations with friends about how the 'Church' had bought yet another local property, accompanied by quiet head shaking and tut-tutting. Watching the packs of lemmings walk around like dazed zombies on Fort Harrison. Lisa and Shawn's stories. It took me this long to get to where I am on the subject of Scientology, and there ain't no stopping me now.

Re: What hit You the hardest?
For me its the stories of torture and abuse...the shit like that story about making them run until they collapse, just outright torture with no other purpose but to break a persons soul.
That makes me so fucking upset and angry its hard to hold back tears.

Re: What hit You the hardest?
A buddy of mine had ranted about how evil the cult was, but I thought it was just evil like Microsoft, Enron, or Walmart. In other words, not good, but not worth me getting my feathers ruffled.
Then I saw that the Chan's were declaring war. I had never heard of Anonymous before, but enough people were paying attention that I knew this was something I'd have to look into. So I started doing research. When I saw the Church's stance on Homosexuallity, I decided to join the protest. It'd be lulzy, might be something to brag about, and I'd be supporting the cause of some of my friends (homosexuality). I'd do the protest, laugh and brag, and move on with my life before someone thought I was a dirty hippie activist. Then I read Paulette Coopers story. Something in me snapped. They had crossed a line I didn't know I had. I became the police liaison for the Boulder protest, and then the Denver protests. At this point, I'm not going to stop kicking them in the balls until they are out of Colorado. I really wish I was in LA or Clearwater so I could deliver more damage with each hit. I'm not, so I'm going to dedicate myself to hurting them where I can.
