Will Smith school / personal finances

There have been some media reports saying how "wonderful" it is that an estimated 80% of the New Village Academy students will receive some form of financial aid.

What they don't tell you is that before you can even be considered you must submit the following information for each parent, guardian, ex-spouse, step-parent, and child:

Actually, those questions aren't unusual for secular private school financial aid applications. The question is - how secular IS this school? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Any private school that requires that much financial information about their students or their parents will not and should not be in business for long. Heck, for universities, the only people who will ask about the source of your income and the amount will be the student loan providers, and even they aren't particular about how you're going to pay it back. As long as the terms are paid by the start of classes you're in.

The Scifags don't need this much information unless their plan is to clean you out. Christ, they're not even trying to hide the con anymore.

Actually, I had to do it for my kids for both private college prep (high school) and private college. The schools were very reputable, and the college is a "name brand" college, so they're not going anywhere. I submitted the info through an outside company that I cannot remember the name of. It's similar to FAFSA and the CSS Profile. Well, much more complicated than FAFSA, but the same idea. They wanted to make sure I didn't ask for aid while vacationing on my yacht or whatever. Funny thing is - the results were that I should pay 1/3 of my salary BEFORE taxes because I pay my bills, don't live beyond my means, and have no credit card balances. That said - I wouldn't want the Co$ to know my business because, you're right, they'll clean the poor parents out!

Edit: When I said the questions weren't unusual, I meant - financial aid departments ask all sorts of nosy questions. I didn't have to tell them how much my electric bill was, however. lol

People living on welfare don't get asked questions of that depth in order to qualify for benefits. I'd no sooner fill out that form for anyone, than I'd slit my wrists.

Man the harpoons to the media: "Scientology schools seems more concerned about your wealth than your child." Seems like a good angle to pursue.

Thirty red flags went up all at once when they asked for the kid's social security number. I was brought up with the thought that that never gets handed out. EVER.

All those questions. . .I don't see why they have to know so much about the fucking CAR.

Re: Will Smith school / personal finances

How much is the tuition? While none of that is really a red-flag without the known cult connection, it does seem a bit...much. Particularly the bit about CDs. That money can't be accessed for some time, so why does the school care?

Not true. EVERYONE who applied for financial aid in my children's schools were asked the same questions and completed the same forms. To not do so would be discriminatory AKA against the law. To assume this ^^^ is to also assume that I am not on welfare. I could elaborate more on what I know re: this, but I prefer to remain...Anonymous. Bottom line: While these questions may be prying, and may indeed be used with ulterior motives by the Co$, they do not (in and of themselves) prove the school is affiliated with the cult. The focus needs to remain on the curriculum, the funding/donors, and the staff's lack of credentials and affiliation with the cult. Here is the link for the CSS Profile site. Most private (and some public) universities require ALL students applying for financial aid to complete. Feel free to peruse the site and you will note that it doesn't have income guidelines related to who is asked/who doesn't have to complete the entire form. https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp

Have to agree that there are usually a lot of probing financial questions asked if you are applying for any kind of financial aid. It is all part of proving that you actually need the help.

Hovever this must be at the top end of the nitpicky range, but then we all know what the Cult of Scientology is like for detailed data. (Unless its truth that they don't want anyone to know ;))

Re: Will Smith school / personal finances

to clarify, I'm not trying to say that the info is "more" than other Financial Aid services might require. The point is that THIS particular database is going straight to the cult of scientology.

random members of the public know that it's a mistake to give your phone number to a stress-test cart... can you imagine what the cult will do with all that info?
