Re: Boston, MA

If some people are not up for the walk they could stay more locally to the church and flyer around Newbury street.

And for the flyering on Friday, is the meet up at 4pm? Cause I get out of work at 3 and I don't know if I would get there right on time (even with the possible 15-20 min wait) but if it is I can try.

I can't come tomorrow cause I get out at 6pm.

Edit: Hello Time Machine :D Glad to hear your the brains of project: Freedom Trail lol.

Re: Boston, MA

Maximum Lulz for biggest crowds
Maximum Crowds for biggest impact
Stretching folks out (as has been noted, does happen) over a long parade route lowers impact. Mob = Good.

For these reasons, I think the Freedom Trail is **awesome**, but I think better suited for weekend flyering than the Big Raid. I would be up for a daytime run on the weekend of April 26th... like daytime on April 26th walking the Freedom Trail with flyers and taking our time to both talk with passerby and quench thirst in pubs along the way. With a straw, of course. :)

Taking the Big Raid march from Faneuil Hall to the Commons is up a bigass hill, but about the same walk as the Org... and with more people we can talk to on the way.

***EDIT ADDS:

Oh, and I am definitely working on the set list for the band come June, taking requests now:
1) RickRoll
2) Don't Stop Believin (Journey)
3) Manamana (except it's Anomanon - Sesame St)
4) Party Hard (Andrew WK)
5) You Are A (tubes) Pirate
6) BelAir?
7) ????
8) Profit!

I know we have guitar and bass covered, (and accordion), who wants to be the drummer and drag a kit to the bandstand?

Maybe add more navy/pirate themed music.

BelAir is going to be hard to play for a brass band. Party Hard actually works better.

Hello american Anonymous! Germany here. Just a little reminder that the international numbers of protesters went down this month. Let's advertise this one a little more and fix the damage. Good luck!

THIS. The idea of walking the freedom trail and spreading out so that people are seeing anons all day is a good one, I just dont think it should be in place of our monthly protest. Some very good points have been brought up in favor of the freedom trail, I still dont feel that it would work for the monthly protest. As a flyering/publicity stunt, however, I think it would be great. That way Anons that aren't up to shape wont really be missing out on a protest if they dont want to go hoof it all day.

As for music, we must have 'Still Alive'. Also, the Final Countdown is a sick song.

ANANiMUS, if you are going to be late to friday I'm sure we can work something out. Either make note on the wiki or PM me and we'll see about either waiting for you or meeting up down the line at a later time.

THIS^^ flag
masspike pilgrim hat is a good choice

Portal's Still Alive needs a lot of work to become a power trio/rock band song... but it can be done. I now want to medley it into Cake's version of "I Will Survive" - because Cake is delicious.

Honestly? Boston's got this one covered. We had at least as many people as last time.

As far as the walk goes, I'm all for it, but not sure that May is the time for it?

Re: Boston, MA

May is usually a pretty nice month. Once June hits, so does the humidity and the 90+ degrees (alternatively the cold weather and rain...), and a lot of people wont feel like walking in that sort of heat.

Re: Boston, MA

Groups will get split up over the course of the walk, it's true, but part of what made the 12th awesome was the gathering back together. I swear we made energetic cry like a little girl. If some Anon aren't feeling like they can manage the whole Freedom Trail, why don't we take a look at what points we absolutely want to hit and arrange a shorter marching route?

WOW. That is pretty much the epic win right there...

Also, Still Will Survive Alive would be sweet.

Re: Boston, MA

MARCHING: Freedom Trail is a fucking badass idea, but there are legitimate concerns as to logistics, keeping the group together, and people who don't want to walk 2.5mi. Another idea which I was going to float around is to meet up near Harvard Square, chill there for 30min or so, walk down Mass Ave (lots of traffic FTW) to the church, then on to the commons again or whatever. Not nearly as much win as Freedom Trail, but maybe a good alternative if it doesn't work out.

MUSIC: Don't Stop Believin' and Still Alive for the epic win.

FLAG: anondescript's design: Bricks were shat.

I'm pretty new here.. I found out about all this shit like 5 days ago. I was at 4/12. I'm all in. I'm planning on writing up my thoughts, observations and suggestions... I'm hoping I'll have some ideas and perspectives that may be new or useful. Until then..

Cheers,
~TS

I saw that this morning, but as far as I know, the committee decision isn't open to review, and the $20k is going to research and travel costs for various "experts". the fail rate of pilot projects like that one is pretty high, though it was amusing that it made the front page of the herald.

Do we have a global theme for May? Also, it is encouraging to see that more high-profile people are abandoning scientology; FOXNews.com - Television Star Exits Scientology - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment shows some actor i've never heard of, who was OT and shit, "escaped" the cult.

Re: Boston, MA

anondescript, that flag is absolutely amazing!!!

So, it seems like a lot of people are interested in the idea of the freedom trail, while they're not sure if we should do it in place of our protest.

How about a May 3rd, mass flyering along parts of the freedom trail? Like 30-50 people or so.

Then on the 10th how about we do something similar to the walk we did before? I think it was absolutely GREAT for our exposure. More time in the general commons area would definitely be awesome too. As pointed out before, even if we have 200 people standing outside the org, it's still a back road.

@Valley Anon, I think maybe TheSelfishMeme was trying to say that other countries didn't do quite a good job at keeping their numbers up so we should try and help expose this more, everywhere.

May is Operation: Game Over.
Focusing on the harassment of critics of Scientology, it should be an excellent time for us to inform everyone of why we're hiding our identities.

I concur. We should definitely not do the part of the trail that's across the river in Charlestown (the most boring part, in my opinion). That would cut it down to closer to 1.5 miles.

Another idea: Create an "Anonymous Guide" for several of the relevant sights giving both useful historical information and a tie to Anonymous' work. We could adapt some of the info here and elsewhere.

Eg, for Old South Meeting House:

Quote:
"This old church furnished Boston’s boisterous patriots with a stage for their impassioned protests. They even started the Boston Tea Party here after Samuel Adams delivered the coded message. “This meeting can do nothing more to save the country!” he pronounced to the assembly. Old South's reputation as a place for history-making oratory has continued through the generations. Colonists, led by the Sons of Liberty and disguised as Native Americans left Old South and walked quietly and purposefully to the waterfront where they dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. You can go inside to visit "Voices of Protest," a permanent exhibition that tells Old South's story over two centuries. It's a sometimes disturbing, often inspiring, frequently controversial, but always fascinating story of the people who have made history within these walls.

"Here the men of Boston proved themselves independent, courageous freemen worthy to raise issues which were to concern the liberty and happiness of millions yet unborn."
--Anonymous poem

Today, you probably received this free guide from a member of "Anonymous", an internet-based, loosely affiliated group of free speech advocates speaking out against the abuses of the Church of Scientology. This group seeks to educate the public on the dangers of this destructive cult by protesting and pursuing political avenues to expose its abusive practices. Anonymous dons masks to protect itself from the well-documented methods of attack that Scientology employs against its critics. The masks also symbolize resistance to controlling, authoritarian regimes like the church of Scientology. Masked, anonymous protest is ingrained in Boston's revolutionary history:

To the British, the Indian was a manifestation of the evils of democracy; to Americans, the
