Austin, Texas

Important To-Do List pre-May 10th: READ THIS and discuss:

1) We need to get a sound permit. It's $30 bucks. Someone please post if you're actively working on this
2) We need to organize pre-raid flyering to get people interested in the protest (Do not use Walls-of-Text flyers for this)
3) Go to Austin Anonymous and register an account/edit/read the Wiki.
4) Come up with a general theme that's pretty lulzy while still gets our message across. Read about Operation: FairgameSTOP. It's pretty lulzy -- come dressed as your favorite Video Game Character.
5) A week before the protest and then a day before we need to contact all News Agencies informing them about the protest

If I'm missing anything, let me know and I'll update the first post.

Address of the CoS Austin:
2200 Guadalupe St # 2
Austin, TX 78705

Delicious copypasta:

You can video tape as long as you're on public ground. So bust out those video recorders. Also, Scientologists are crashing meet up areas. If you are afraid of being photographed just head over at 11am.

--->LEGAL NEWS<---

Rules of protest per APD:
Rule #1: Do not go in the building
Rule #2: Protesting on the sidewalk is ok, but do NOT block the entrance or the flow of people walking.
Rule #3: Do not go into the street.
Rule #4: No tables to pass out stuff.
Rule #5: Marching through any public property is OK, parking lots, sidewalks, all that.
Rule #6: Masks are OK, but remove them if asked by a cop.

NO PERMIT IS REQUIRED TO PROTEST!!

Sound Permit is needed to use noise amplification devices!

I almost want to have this Anon's babies:

It says Millennium Park, but that would be pretty easy to change to wherever you guys are meeting. I was reading random threads and saw you needed a non-wall-of-text flyer. So there you go.

Here are a couple good pre-raid flyers if you want to fix the dates on them:

I. Anyone in a public place can take pictures of anything they want. Public places include parks, sidewalks, malls, etc. Malls? Yeah. Even though it’s technically private property, being open to the public makes it public space.

II. If you are on public property, you can take pictures of private property. If a building, for example, is visible from the sidewalk, it’s fair game.

III. If you are on private property and are asked not to take pictures, you are obligated to honor that request. This includes posted signs.

IV. Sensitive government buildings (military bases, nuclear facilities) can prohibit photography if it is deemed a threat to national security.

V. People can be photographed if they are in public (without their consent) unless they have secluded themselves and can expect a reasonable degree of privacy. Kids swimming in a fountain? Okay. Somebody entering their PIN at the ATM? Not okay.

VI. The following can almost always be photographed from public places, despite popular opinion:

* accident & fire scenes, criminal activities
* bridges & other infrastructure, transportation facilities (i.e. airports)
* industrial facilities, Superfund sites
* public utilities, residential & commercial buildings
* children, celebrities, law enforcement officers
* UFOs, the Loch Ness Monster, Chuck Norris

VII. Although “security” is often given as the reason somebody doesn’t want you to take photos, it’s rarely valid. Taking a photo of a publicly visible subject does not constitute terrorism, nor does it infringe on a company’s trade secrets.

VIII. If you are challenged, you do not have to explain why you are taking pictures, nor to you have to disclose your identity (except in some cases when questioned by a law enforcement officer.)

IX. Private parties have very limited rights to detain you against your will, and can be subject to legal action if they harass you.

X. If someone tries to confiscate your camera and/or film, you don’t have to give it to them. If they take it by force or threaten you, they can be liable for things like theft and coercion. Even law enforcement officers need a court order.

Attendance should be a major concern this time, I'm going to make a topic on the tabellae.com forums about this.

AUSTIN ROCKS!

so, someone made a thread about how some of the smaller cities and some of the cities who don't get as much recognition as the places with bigger orgs are being slighted. i happen to think ya'll should get more recognition.

i want to thank you for organizing the protests in your city. i know that it must be much harder to show up with very few people and protest.

every Anonymous protest is important. every anon who protests is vital. every anon who cannot make it to the protests, but who helps in other ways is vital. there is not one of us who is not an integral part of this movement.

so, thank you very much for having your protests!

day day,
AnonMomAnon
