Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
This thread will serve as the official May 10th LA protest thread, and will be updated with details as we go along.
Please e-mail hitsut@gmail.com to get on the SoCal/LA e-mail list. 400+ other e-mails are already on it. Protest Plan We will be meeting in front of the HGB (6331 Hollywood Boulevard) at 2:00PM Pacific Time (this is to help beat the heat!). We will remain there until 4:00PM. During the demonstration we have a plan to organize everyone in to three protest groups. At 4:00PM Pacific Time, we will split up and target THREE protest sites. We are not going to give away any information on how this will be organized until the day of so as to keep OSA off our scent. Once again, May 10th at 2:00PM is our demonstration. We are meeting at 6331 Hollywood Boulevard (Hollywood and Vine Red Line subway station is a half block away). At this time there are no plans to raid Jefferson Boulevard; this is for a number of reasons including: * Distance from other protest sites * Lack of foot traffic * General hostility and unprofessionalism of LAPD in the area on March 15th * Inability to perform our three prong split at 4:00pm (since there are no other locations nearby) Weekly IRC Meetings are Monday @ 9pm. irc.partyvan.fm #socal Guide to using Chatzilla: Chatzilla Last edited by ath; 05-09-2008 at 02:44 PM. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
Since I can't get on IRC, I'll just toss my ideas out here.
-I am definitely in favor of an evening raid. The weather yesterday was absurd for April, and the summer months we can expect to be worse. If we can dodge the heat and the UV doomrays of the sunlight by doing a protest later in the day, great. That also means we can target a slightly different crowd than we can normally reach during daylight hours. Plus, it's not something we've done before. The Scilons are getting accustomed to shielding their members during daylight hours and all of that- so perhaps changing things up a little and hitting Joe Public in the evening will once more throw CoS into disarray trying to patch their sinking reputation. I also doubt CoS has had to deal with a nighttime protest before, either- though we'd need to ask the old guard if they ever tried it. If we're out there in the evening, it will be harder for CoS photosnipers to get anything useful unless they are right there in the thick of the crowd. -Additionally, if we hit the clubbing crowd in the evening, lots of opportunities to have fun while getting the message out. Street theatre, glowsticks, music, dancing.... let's make the next protest more of a party than just a protest. Depending on the location, we could parody their free stress test tables with an Anon variation to deliver the lulz. We had a lot of success with the more srs biznss Reconnect theme, but remember, we are Anonymous, and we don't take anything seriously- ourselves least of all. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
Good ideas, Anonymuse! Ok, here are a few of mine:
First off, I again agree the night time is a good idea May 9th, for the record, is the Birthday of Dianetics, so Scientology ALWAYS Has a huge event, in the evening, for that. So how about going from 3-5 picketing Hollywood Blvd (Forget the complex---it's too predictable doing it each time---plus they have to get all the Int Executives OUT of the HGB, when they have events! So picketing there, at that time is key. Then everyone can grab a bite to eat, and head down to the Shrine, OR IF it's on L. Ron Hubbard Way---back there for the picket in the Evening. There are TONS of great signs that can be made about Dianetics: "If you're "Clear"---why do you still have pains?" "Dianetics pretends to be a Science of the Mind, when Scientologists are constantly fighting mental health." Anyways, there are tons...that's just a few off the top of my head Oh! Also, I recommend for June that we do a B-B-Q out at the beach! SUMMER PICKET PARTY TIME! Remember in LA, WE have something most other areas do not: 1) SUPER COOL LOCATIONS (well, not cool... cool, but KEWL) AND 2) TONS OF SCIENTOLOGY PLACES, around the town. So one picket we could do in Pasadena. One in Orange County. Another month do Montrose (North of LA) ANother time Hemet, CA (In the Fall--too hot now) Then Glendale, and of course one time we have to do CC in Hollywood, just for FUN My 2 cents Love ya ALL !Magoo~~~ PS: Thanks to Ath, too! ![]() |

We have you, Magoo! :P
Also in terms of a BBQ, I was considering having a costume party at my house for some of the more trusted Anonymous in the middle of May, but I still have to discuss that with some people. AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JOIN THE IRC CHANNEL IF YOU CAN! It's not that hard, and we discuss important stuff (occasionally.) It's also one of the best ways to get your opinion voiced. |

I won't be on IRC, but I think afternoon protesting is a great idea. One of the anons almost passed out from the heat this last time.
Also, I would like to suggest lots of videogame music and other videogame-themed stuffs. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
I like the Hollywood Blvd afternoon leading to an evening of Party Hard 2 and (legally) crashing their big Dianetics party.
If we hit the Shrine again though guys, we seriously need our shit in order with the LAPD so we don't have a repeat of the faggotry with street closures/zOMG noise ordinance crap we had in March there. Do we have any way how to find out where their big party will be? |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
I just figured out IRC, so I'll be there. Afternoon sounds lulzly. My delicate complexion cant take the heat, and besides, afternoons just work out better. Alos, the cult might be expecting us at 11, we dont show, they are lulled into false security thinking that have won, and SURPRISE.
Th prolly not, since they seem to expect us. Which is nice in a way, to see how hard they try to keep us amused with teevee and tarps. We need Xenu-a-go-go gurlz. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
(no offense: quiet stage whisper: evening @ the celebrity center. with tight timing?)
(3-5 is early--soccer mom time, 4-6 better, drive time in la is about 4:30-6:30--more influential, FAR FAR better/more flattering light for photos) at any rate the where and when of the big party is important. the scene at the shrine is so uber-controlled so as to control everything, but most importantly IMAGE, the venue contributes to projecting a whimpy image, in contrast with the event guests being cast in a strong image--a psychological factor-how about moving closer to the major artery entrances if we must be at the shrine. some really good ideas above on enlivening the strip areas...west end PLEASE. better quality traffic for the goals. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
Evening protest sounds good to me. We could even send a couple people out at 11, have them hang around a while, then leave. Make it look like an epic fail, when really it's a trap!
Also, for the love of God, if we have a fake "Free Stress Test" table, WE NEED TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE LUCY'S "PSYCHIATRIC HELP 5¢" BOOTH FROM THE PEANUTS COMIC STRIP. --- lolwut |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
I've made this plea before, and I'm making it again now in hopes I will be heard.
Ahem - I am Retarded! Can someone please help me figure out this strange alien intellect which you call "IRC." Seriously, I've dowloaded the software - the mIRC recommended in a SoCal email - and I thought I had done all the steps involved to make it work. Whatever the hell I'm doing wrong now, the message I keep getting is "Unable to connect to server (Software caused connection abort)". Can someone help walk this old man through the Wonderland that is the Intertubes? All right - enough of that. Tory, you sexy, brilliant woman, you. I read somewhere else about the evening Protest idea and almost wept with joy at the thought. On top of that I also wondered if it would be possible to either start at Hollywood Blvd and then go to Big Blue, or find another location just as important as Big Blue instead. Hollywood Blvd was incredible this Saturday, in spite of the heat. I got a chance to talk to so many people who had no idea what we were doing, what was going down with Scientology and why we all seemed so freakin' happy. As far as "dress code" I think it's important that if there is going to be some sort of "uniformity" it should not only be comfortable, it should be made clear that it is optional. Protecting one's identity (masks or not) is one thing, but the more options we have to cater to personal comfort, the better for all involved. Personally, I think I might go ahead and go with a "Lawrence of Arabia/Rudolph Valentino" look. You know, long billowy robe, light airy garments, stirring melodramatic music and a striking pose.... Is anyone else getting turned on? EDIT* Also, I think there's some confusion at times about the word "shrine." There's the Shrine Auditorium, where the LRH Birthday thing was and where the Dianetics Anniversay Celebration is going to be - and then there's the LRH Museum which is often called a "Shrine" to Hubbard. Please be clear which one you are talking about when you make suggestions about locations. |

Re: Los Angeles/Hollywood 5/10 Official Protest Thread
I am digging the siesta idea. Still, this weekend seems to be an isolated heat wave so it might not even be as bad next month. Supposed to be 84 tomorrow in the Valley, dropping to 66 on Tuesday. Weirdness.
But if it's in the 90s again I'm wearing black shorts or capris instead of long pants, with the white shirt/black tie/maybe suit jacket. The extra ventilation will do wonders. Quote:
