Re: San Diego
Re: suits- I wore a full on black suit, black windbreaker gloves, black clava, and face mask to April. I was doing alright surprisingly.
Light colors are better for summer and heat, but most everyone and their kid brother has a black suit. Fair Game seems to be about establishing uniformity so that we become an army of individuals united as one mass of similar people. Pretty damn intense, if I do say. So what's the solution? In my opinion, ditch the jacket. Long sleeve white shirt, black tie, black pants, black shoes (optional), and a GF mask still equals fucking scary en masse. We're still dressed up but simply not wearing the black jacket takes a full layer of clothing off, exposes more white to reflect heat, and reduces the burden for participation. I bet there's a good # of folks with the full ensemble but not the jacket. By losing the jacket we open the doors to more people to dress like the "mainstream" image. I also wish to propose the tan khakis and single color polo shirt as a dressy casual alternative. Yeah, you really start to lose the hardass edge at that point but the short sleeve polo really keeps you cooler compared to a long sleeve dress shirt. That being said...with proper hydration you can still rock the full suit should you allow yourself the occasional breather in the shade and wear loose fitting, breathable clothing.

Is the pie Cherry Pie or Apple? Chocolate Pudding? I would suggest working with the student paper, usually the administration does not supervise that and the student press has control over it (within reason). Heat Friendly Suits It shouldn't be too hard to put together a white suit instead of black, spring is literally here, and white usually is more effective in the heat since it has somewhat better heat reflection properties and its usually the norm at stores this time of the year to bring out the white. Khaki pants are easily available as well. Polo shirts are white and are short sleeved and they usually comprise school uniforms so not that hard to find. Just because we are Anonymous, doesn't mean we should disregard our health. Hmm, I have the movie "War Games" Think that would help?

Re: San Diego
I agree, my friend was the dude in the demon out fit. Man was he pissed about that...
>_> Also, if we do a water run to the 7eleven down there I think it's wise to inform you guys that they won't let you pay till you take off the mask (they think you're going to rob the store or something like that) so we're going to have to do something about that... (that bugged the shit out of me) |

Re: San Diego
I see a lot of good discussion and ideas here, and that's fantastic... but the details we're working out are the easy (and less significant) ones.
The absolute, most important thing we can do right now is let the police know we're coming again. We need someone to CALL them and get a point of contact and preferred means of communication. We're super early, but giving them a month's notice that we'll be out there, and starting a dialog early, will allow us to adjust based on SDPD's concerns (making us more favorable to them). At this point, we've got the big concerns out of the way (blocking sidewalks, noise, traffic), but other things still need to be worked out (officers wear dark uniforms, and they'll be standing in the same heat as us... so some manner of shade provisions would be a good idea, for both us and them) . Also - I think mini-raids would be a good idea: April 22 - earth day, Balboa park May 5 - Cinco de Mayo - gotta do something for that. Mexican wrestling masks are fairly easy to make (or just buy. They're all over TJ, and my friend's parents bought masks from a vendor in Old Town. If you go to the guy in Old Town, don't pay more than $10 for one. You can probably get them for $8. Just stick firm, and be willing to walk away if he doesn't give up. He will give up.) May 5-9 - Operation Educate: College students need to flier the hell out of their campuses. I'd be willing to say that EACH anon should post at least 50 fliers on the campus of their choice, notifying students of the evils of scientology, and of the protest on May 10. The fact that the posters mysteriously appear all over campus will increase the chance that campus papers will be interested. Flyering that week will raise awareness right before the protest, hopefully generating interest soon enough for people to show up, but not so early that they lose interest before the protest itself. Finally: costumes... I've been hearing Operation:FairGameStop as a common theme over on SA. Themed for video game characters, bonus points for incorporating Stop Fair Game into the title. It also provides a good opportunity for all our t-shirt ninjas to just show up as Ninja Gaiden or something. :) Dammit - now I'm doing the same thing. All these ideas are fun and all, but they're second priority. First priority is to start two-way communication with SDPD. Tell them we're assembling at 10.30 at the fountain, heading out to CoS at 11. We'll spend time at the CoS building (note: they span both sides of the block... if they park vans on one side, we can just move to the other. :)) then we'll head back to Horton for a while. What comes after that is to be determined, but we'll be sure to keep our escorts informed of all of our plans. Who is going to do this? |

Re: San Diego
For Operation: Fair Game I may try to find an umpire outfit.
Seersucker suit jackets are good for hot weather, and give a nice Matlock appearance. |

Re: San Diego
With respect to the heat, other locations are considering moving their timetable around. Do we really want to do this again midday? Or what about pushing it to afternoonish? Say 2-6? Still a good solid 4 hours but we'll be catching the tail end of the heat and it'll be gradually cooling down as we get into early evening. This is summer and there will still be plenty of sunlight.
I personally advocate the afternoon cause it gives us more prep time during the early part of the day to make sure our signs are good, fliers are printed, van is ready, cake is available, etc. Also we'll catch more folks wandering around Horton plaza than during the blistering 11-3 time period, me thinks. What's the collective say? Mid day or afternoon?

Re: San Diego
I can provide about 2000 Fliers free of charge. If someone wants to give me a list with pictures, and the numbers they want for each flier I'll provide.

Re: San Diego
I pledge one case of water for May 10th (count my 1 case in the OP)
I had a case of water sitting in my car at April 12, but i didn't have enough hands to carry everything. I'll have people with me again this time so it won't be a problem. Quote:
![]() As for the Police, CALL THE POLICE ON THE PHONE an e-mail wont cut it. For the march 15 raid, a few people said they contacted the police but when an anon actually called them up to ask about the legality of Operation: Magic WOG Bus the police didn't know that we were planning to show up on march 15. I'm fine with no jacket and just a white shirt, tie and black pants. No jacket cat ears anon seemed to be having lots of lulz on that hot day. I definitely want to go to an earth day mini raid and i think we should do it at balboa park because that is where all the people are going to be. I don't care that our raid isn't on topic with earth day. There are going to be too many people there to pass this up. My question is if there are going to be more people at balboa park on the weekend before or on earth day it's self, because it's on a Tuesday this year. I've never been so i have no idea... A Cinco de mayo raid is out for me. I'm not against it, i just can't be there. Personally i'd prefer the earlier morning raid, but i can still make it for the entire length of the raid if it's pushed back. EDIT: Earthday is tuesday and not wednesday Last edited by Zen; 04-14-2008 at 12:11 PM. |

I think we should wait on Anonanagi's final OK on the site he is putting together, but do keep that sign, it worked nicely. If you can, could you make a colorful one that just says "Magic Wog Bus" ? We might be able to hang it on the hood of the van or the back.
