Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Petty herassments like these may be fun, but they are ultimatly impotent.
all you can hope to achieve is that you annoy the target. if were going to put alot of energy into something lets figure out how to attract more media. the media is essentialy on our side, as there is no lost love for scientology there. the bottem line is though that they need a story they can sell, something the editor thinks the public will want to see. ultimatly these people are in the buisness of selling a product. so lets provide them with one. i can think of 2 things that might be worth reporting, and thats numbers and theatricals. we have thuroughly worn out the novelty factor and they cant keep selling the same story over and over. numbers we cant predict, and i feel we should do more about recruiting, we cant depend on numbers to impress any1. so we have to do something theatrical. i suggest we do something with gaming. maybe turn the street into a mockup carnival (kermis) with some silly games we can hev the public participate in. maybe we can have a parody of auditing and/or of the personality and stress tests. maybe just some who wants to be a millionaire parody with scientology related questions. well u get my drift... |

Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Just brainstorming:
How about we invite gamers and furfags for cosplay? We'd need to make it very clear to the furfags that we do not intend to make them yiff in hell though. Not sure how that will work out though, cosplay isn't very popular in the wetlands. Perhaps we could rent out one of them large-ish screens and set up a gaming contest? Portal time-trials? Dance Dance revolution or guitar hero perhaps? We'd need prizes though. About flyers: Bit of a dillema, we need both dutch and english flyers and having to judge who to give what language sucks, bi-lingua is therefore the way to go I think. We also wish to get as much info out as we can without boring people meaning we have to limit the amount of info in a page, can't crit joe public with a tl;dr wall of text. My personal favorite is an A4 folded into a mini booklet, however since we can't overload a single page with info a single booklet will only have enough space for our most important points and a list of our sources, no room for two languages me thinks. Would inserting an english version of such a booklet into the dutch version (or vica versa) be a good solution? In such a case the outer folder needs to have marked on it's front page that a version in another language can be found inside. Would mean we need a a lot more flyers but if we reach consensus plenty time in advance I can print some 1200 flyers a week at work (more and me boss will start to notice) We'd need to do a lot of on-site folding and inserting work then though, I simply don't have time to fold and insert a few thousand flyers on my own. mmmh, having said that, I should haul ass and get that example flyer ready for judgement by the hive mind. Guy #1 it is. Used guy #2 for a recruitment poster, it's up on taartenlollies.

Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
i think we should want to be as independent from technology as we can keep it.
big screens and computer games is just another thing that can go wrong, and considering the unpredictable nature of dutch weather it sounds like wed be setting ourselves up for massive fail. think more ghetto... like say... AIR-guitar hero? that ought to provide some itneresting video material... about the flyers, i tend to agreewith the above and what was sayd earlyer: 1 or 2 bilingual flyers instead of the chatoc mix weve had so far. a little streamlining here can go a long way towards making us look more professional. for the booklet u mention, we can just do an A4 flyer with the languages distributed across the page, but one corner reserved as a 'front page' so that it ends up with that on top after folding. that way u eliminate some steps from the production process. i strongly feel that whatever we do we should keep it as simple as possible at all times. |

1. You don't know your audience. Some people like short, sensational flyers, others won't take an image with just three lines of texts and an URL seriously. Some people won't even read it unless it's tl;dr, others prefer the fun comic version. And tons of people will throw it out right away when you realize you gave them a comic. Different kinds of flyers (sort of like different kinds of clothes) increases our chances of getting noticed by many different people. 2. Many different flyers also means more flyers to give to a single person, increasing the amount of info we can give, the impact we make (you don't just toss 4 different flyers in the trash without at the very least skimming them) and the idea of being legion (and having a whole lot to say). The only thing we really have to be careful with is: never EVER make a flyer without a headline that clearly explains our mission statement (i.e. "Scientology is a dangerous cult", "Scientology is een gevaarlijke UFO-sekte"). As long as the headline has impact, a flyer is win. Otherwise, people will assume we're for Scientology. Also, video games? It's a fun idea, but I've got a feeling it'll easily involve twenty anon gathered around a screen completely ignoring the org for the rest of the day. Plus, rain. I was thinking of going with: "A dangerous cult and a criminal organisation, That is the best description for the cult known as "scientology"

How is that disagreeing...? We're both saying the exact same thing, right? Make flyers with clear headlines. :)

Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
i guess you have a point with the diversity n all.
still i think we might benifit from taking some time to compare our flyers and make sure theres not alot of redundancy etc. |

On the Game Stop thing..
I dropped the two layered approach (geting others to call sci) for the direct approach. They don't seem to like Battletoads ;) And I think they now know about may 10 :P |

Wouldn't you think they knew about May 10th as soon as we announced it on Enturb/TaartEnLollies? =P

Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Print toilet paper with an anti-cult picture and use it for flyering? One roll would be some 200 flyers with a VERY clear message :-).
Or would Joe Public not appreciate? Opinionz? |

Re: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Just as a thought, I suggested this in another thread partly as a joke but they seemed to like the idea. Scientology offers free stress tests, why don't we offer free stress RELIEF when protesting around their free stress test places. :-)
Could be head and shoulder massage for a couple of minutes perhaps. OK, I'll get my coat... |
