That would be excellent. The org is at 41 Ebrington Street, Plymouth. Walkable from both bus and train station. Much closer to bus station; 5-10 mins walk as oppose to 10 - 15 from train station.

The org is a bog standard shop front so no obvious sign on the maps but Stu is correct it is almost the last building on Ebrington Street on the town side. See here: * is the actual location of what is described. Bus station is also main coach station too. The nearest roundabout (between bus and org) has a bombed out church in the middle of it.

Thanks Anon1312 - I already got the maps and stuff... I might go down myself a few days before to see where the hell everything is and find a few escape routes should things go wrong... Any more thoughts on my whistles and airhorns stuff?

Those would probably be a bit much- if we're looking at packing between 15-30 people in a residential area, that would be far too much noise. Even in the town centre, we're more likely to be a nuisance with those than a help. The music is more than enough.

We have to be a bit considerate of the old folks home next to the org. More leeway in the town centre, but beyond a certain point people will just assume were a bunch of rabble rousers. We play music, if we have enough we might chant, dance and offer out fliers. They didn't bring out the stress test buggy last time but we all went in to town towards the end of the day to hand out many fliers. Again we played music but difficult to chant when there is no target to chant at. Still it was great fun.

Pity we cant get the old folks on our side really, Im sure they would join us if they embraced Rick Astley...

Agree on the airhorn front, prob not a good idea to use them, Ebringon St is a tad on hte narrow side. If we get enough people, the impact will still be awesome.

Re: the DPA request, sure - its just a question of finances. Im putting everything I have into getting the cam system up and running.

There are others who have pledged to the fund and who have still yet to pay... Maybe that parabolic mic system is a great gadget to get. I'd certainly be able to put £20 or so towards it, but you might have to wait a week or two.... and as long as it can be used for cart stalking, Im sure nobody would have any qualms about you keeping it after if you pay 50%+ of the cost....

We are getting seriously tooled up now :) And its great.

I would strongly recommend also getting a 2nd hidden camera system. Its £80 total (links to ebay purchases in this thread I think)... £50 for the recorder and £30 for the wireless cam unit - all inc postage.

To others reading this thread - we are going to be having stress-tests, going into the org for personality tests, we are going to be taking courses, we are going to catch them illegally selling dianetics on the street.... we are going to expose them in a huge way. We hope to make it impossible for them to peddle their wares. We are going to contact all town councils, and police stations in the area... The long-term idea is to cut off their income stream.

They are going to be SO paranoid... as they will not be able to trust anyone. The hidden camera work will be starting this weekend. This is on such a shoe-string budget, but you know? I think its gonna work really well :)

I treated myself to a clamp for my camcorder today. It means that the cam can be fixed on the handlebars of the scooter.... Great for long distance zoom shots ;)

BikerChick has donated this - wired pinhole camera and mic system. This will be ideal for long meetings with the Scientologists, and can be hidden in clothing or in a bag/rucksack/object very easily.

As I said Plymouth Scientology.... expect us ;)

*stows big protest kit* Fair enough if you guys think it's a bad idea to make that much noise then that's ok. I don't want to get into any trouble with this. As for funding, I'll give what I can on the day but I make no concrete promises due to shortage of earnings these days.

Just a warning about pinholes: People get VERY tetchy about them, if you're found with one on you could be in some serious doodoo.

I think a silent protest... where we say nothing (unless asked) would be much more intimidating for the scinos.... esp if we all have 'cult watch' signs etc.

Re: pinhole camera system - its not illegal is it? On a public street? Anyway - it wont be me carrying the unit - it will be other people.... and they will never know who until it is too late ;)

It can be dodgy with the Data Protection Act. The Act says you can't collect personal data on 'Identifiable Living Persons' which includes photos. There are exceptions to the rules including 'Personal Research, Secuirty Services and Police' but publishing the photos and stuff acquired on the internet (unless you blur faces or they're wearing masks) might be a bit dodgy.

I've just been reading the DPA stuff that some people came up with here (EuroFolks: Data Protection Laws and Lulz) and I would like to highlight the point made that it does work both ways. It's just a case of being careful - if you haven't been namefagged then you should be ok but otherwise you might be asked to delete the films/photos or worse, face litigation.

Sorry to put a dampner on things but I think more research might be needed since the BBC do undercover filming all the time and don't appear to get in the shit for it.

Re:re: pinhole camera, just found this "when using in a public place there must be a sign clearly visible stating that "Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Is Operating In The Area" or words to that effect" ( Covert Spy Camera UK, Spy Cameras, CCTV UK, Wireless Spy Camera UK, Spy cams, Pinhole Spy Camera UK )

Hmmmm....

We could manipulate that by having the sign with the words "Scientology:" above it and then "Fair Game: They're Watching you" below and if anyone asks then there is the sign around. We should get away with it.
