Re: Calgary, Alberta
Agreed, we should be cautious. At the very least we should be looking into whether masks are an issue or not. Just because they're fine in Edmonton doesn't mean Calgary is the same. Does anybody know if masks are a problem? Or should we be looking into it?

Re: Calgary, Alberta
I am not too sure about the mask thing, but if all we're doing is leaving behind pamphlets on public transit then it should be okay. Regardless, we should check up on the mask issue so we know for anything else we are going to do. But back to the May 10th planning, what is the plan?

As for May 10 ... since there is no actual Co$ in Calgary, we have been going up to Edmonton to protest. I know that on the 10th I'm getting a ride up there with a few other Calgary Anons who had some extra space and offered here on the Enturb forums. They've been staying the weekend with an Edmonton Anon who also offered a place to stay for people who needed one. If we get enough Calgary Anons interested though, it might be worth doing some massive carpool to and from Edmonton and/or setting up some sort of protest in Calgary. That being said, just because some of us are going to protest in Edmonton does not mean that somebody else can organize something for Calgary. I've been disappointed the last few times by how few people from Calgary have actually attended the protest in Edmonton and nobody has even attempted to organize an alternative protest in town for people who can't get to Edmonton. |

Re: Calgary, Alberta
Well I probably won't be back up in Edmonton on the 10th so hopefully people want to plan something for Calgary. Unless people want me to do the planning, please let me know if this is a go. Sign up on the forums if you're trolling this so at least we can estimate numbers and see if we can work things out.

Re: Calgary, Alberta
srsly? a car pool for the 10th?
Hmm... If I can avoid spending the money and if there's still room I'd love to come to another Ed-raid :) I was there for the March one and besides some of the people It was a pretty fun time. Though, debatably, I might actually be putting more of my time into Otafest Panned out right we have the potential to hit alot of our target audience Web users like ourselves Because just about everyone who watches anime is a part or Jewtube, LJ or the like and with their support, this is just another notch in the belt. I have friends going anyways And we can wear masks and people will understand Honestly the idea could work very well if we make sure to plan plan plan it. what would be even cooler is, if we could get one of those Movie rooms And make and anti-scilon video about 20-30 minutes long This would be ideal situations though. So I'll start looking into things a bit more tomorrow And see if I can get something set up Last edited by .blitzkrieg.; 04-24-2008 at 08:07 AM. |

Re: Calgary, Alberta
Blitzkrieg, good call. The whole mask thing wouldn't be an issue and if we all stand together, it'll generate some curiosity. Maybe we can get that annoying beep PlymouthScientology on YouTube uses, haha.

We should also look into getting smaller media like the "You Found The Card" cards, or the fair game business cards Mål is cooking up for us. Now if only this annoying snow would melt ...

I still like the idea of placing them on transit.

Re: Calgary, Alberta
Agreed. A bunch of people wearing masks on transit is potentially scary, but would also spark some interest in what we had to say. If a scary looking masked person hands you a card or a flyer and is generally nice, instead of being or doing any of the scary things you anticipated, I can imagine people would be a wee bit curious. That being said, we should be checking to see if masks are going to be an issue or not. Also, transit allows the information to travel literally.

Re: Calgary, Alberta
Masks and nice suits.. it looks awesome I think. Although not everyone wants to wear a suit/has one. Personally I'd be really weirded out if someone walked up to me like that - but just say, "Hi There, How are YOU?" first and they totally warm up to you. That's atleast how it was when I was walking with my friend around downtown.

If no masks, like h0m3r says. Very, VERY snazzy suits and placing YouFoundTheCard would be awesome. |

Re: Calgary, Alberta
Hrm... anything a former Calgarian can offer? I know there's not an Org, but there's some info about there being a Dianetics Center in Calgary... but no word as to whether or not it's still open. I've not lived there in a while...
I also stumbled across this recent link: Free Introductory Dianetics Lecture - calgary classes/workshops - backpage.com So it's not like Calgary is devoid of activity... Anyone have more info on this??
