Re: Edmonton, Alberta
Yah, outside city center was a fairly good location.
In fact, if we trolled from Churchill down Jasper we'd get allot more notice and allot more distribution possibilities. City Center doesn't want us coming in, (we're scary, apparently). |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
A problem with marching, or planning on moving around, is the late comers. It would be difficult to find us and they might not be willing to put in the effort. If enough of us showed up a group could march around City Center, etc while another stayed on 97th at the Church.
Smaller marching groups also helps with the thin sidewalks. There were a few times on Saturday where we filled up large areas and were randomly broken up whenever we crossed a street. Teams of 5-7 marching in different directions with a few signs and pamphlets might be effective. Also not as intimidating. |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
I disagree with switching locations, the pressure on the Co$ itself must be maintained, while there isn't alot of foot traffic there is a good amount of actual traffic. I think if individual guerilla propaganda teams want to simultaneously work in concert with the main protest that is certainly a good thing, that being said, the meeting point should be the main protest where materials can be desiminated, also maybe we should consider the main protest as more of a rally,if you are feeling really hot to get shit done, there is nothing to stop individual anons from doing this everyday before and after the main protest, in fact post what you have done, you may inspire others.

This way late comer's won't go to an empty protest area and it puts the cult on notice. There a few high foot traffic spots near the Co$ anyway. Like the City Centre entrances (They're apparently fine with us if we stay out side.) |

I agree with dual-pronged approach: Protest at the Co$, with mobile units going around downtown. Cake and eat it!!

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
I agree that Co$ 97th is a crap location but I also agree that we can't ease off the pressure on the actual church. I'm also in favor of having groups walking around informing the public. In favor of gathering at 97th, due to late people, blah blah already been said.
So in regards to having people @ 97th AND walking around, maybe we gather at 97th and then just break off ino X amount of groups walking around and X amount of people stay at the Co$? Who goes where could easily be decided once everybody arrives (we'll have to make sure each group has cameras of sorts) but I really want a "WARNING Greedy Cult Zone" sign so I'd volunteer to stay at 97th. |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
Is anyone else concerned about attendance? I am. Attendance was obviously down from march, and I'm worried about a continuous decline. A good way to avoid that would be to hurry up and decide on some solid plans! May 10 is a little over 3 weeks away and we still don't have anything really concrete. I'll list the suggestions we have so far, but before that, I'd like to draw attention to some aspects that need improvement.
Somebody mentioned the fact that a large group of masked people walking around may appear intimidating. If we're going to walk around, the groups must be smaller! Suggestions on a maximum group size? I was thinking max 8 per group. I already bitched about signs, so, - picket 97th co$ - have group(s) of people walking around handing out flyers, at: - Churchill Square - Whyte ave - Jasper - city center (some of these are probably the same location, gimme a break, new to E-town) - NEED MOAR FLYERS - for anyone who didn't know, theme for May 10 is Battletoad Earth: fairgamestop question: Is it assumed that we gather at Churchill square? or are we not going to do that this time In regards to West Ed; Anyone going/want to go/think we shouldn't bother? Agree? Disagree? Suggestions? Please respond. Think about it; the sooner we make these decisions, the sooner we can start giving people the details and have them show up. |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
We can't have too man locations, as we will have like 8 groups o flike eight people :\ I sa we could have a preraid on white and in west ed, with the main raid and the church with ONE group of eight marching aroudn the city.

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
i wish i could help out a lot more, but i live nowhere near edmonton. the Co$ there is the closest one to me. i'm in BC. ANY anons in Grande Prairie? it's only about 2 hours away from me. not sure of the EXACT date yet, but i'm planning to visit my sis, throw on a suit, make my sister do it too, then drag her ass to the huge mall there to hand out flyers with me.
it's confirmed the may 10th theme is BattleTOAD Earth : fairgamestop? we need a hottie to walk into the radio stations and get them to promote, hell, at least mention the protest. MAL? what about you? got nice legs? |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
Affirmatory.
One large cohesive group would be more effective than several small groups of mini-protesters. Also, last time we tried anything at City Center, the mall security wouldn't allow masking, protest signs, or flier handouts. I would assume similar at West Ed. However, I am not sure about official policies. For cohesion (and an easier way to assemble), I vote to meet at Church-Hill as per usual, and proceed to their Church. The vehicle traffic (and honking) is fine, it'll be motivating for us and demoralizing to them. Outdoor areas with heavy foot-traffic (such as Whyte Ave) would be a good place to distribute fliers afterwards. Late evening would be even better because of the bar scene and restaurants. My opinion. |

Re: Edmonton, Alberta
I don't think being at West Ed will be that effective anyways, somewhere like Whyte Ave would make a much bigger impact. The only reason I say that is because I feel the crowd at the mall just isn't the kind that'll be interested. Over half are tourists and don't care and the other are just mallrats/busy people.. I don't know. I just know West Ed and have tried the whole thang back in the day and eveybody there is on a bloody mission and won't give you the time of day.
