Halifax, Nova Scotia
I unfortunately missed out on the April protest but am VERY much looking forward to showing my support on May 10th....
Come on fellow Haligonians, let's show the CoS what we are all about. Now that the weather is getting nicer, we should have better turnouts. What can we do this time, to make things extraordinary? |

Hey I live in Edmonton and protest here, but I'm originally from the East Coast. I'm just wondering, any Islanders show up in Hali? and what was your attendance like?

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
just to let you guys know, we have a park BOOKED for may 10th. This means we DO NOT have to worry about scilon calling the cops on us for using a bullhorn, as we are 100% within the law to do so.
For moar info, contact A. Non Hubbard

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
I'm wondering if anybody is interested in handing out fliers before the protest, maybe the weekend before or something?
I'm also curious if we want to call Global/CTV, the Metro and specifically The Coast regarding our next protest... I think if we called The Coast, they would EAT that up considering that not much about the paper is NOT controversial. We definitely need to get coverage this time, and hopefully more people will show up. I'm crossing my fingers that we won't have to contend with pouring rain this time. |

zombie, CTV in halifax is scilon controlled, so CTV is not being called, and if they show up, we turn them down for any interviews.

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
If I can get the weekend off, I'll be there. The park is a short walk away from both the bus station, and the hostel I stayed at last time, so it'll be very simple for me.
What we REALLY need, is a post-protest, post-flyering sort of party. If somebody's got a place suitable, we could have a BBQ and everybody bring something. Beer, burger, all the good stuff. Video games, etc etc. A real bout of revelry after a protest. |

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Best way I've found to do it is in meatspace. People you work with and your family should already know you're speaking out against the Church. Tell your friends what you're doing and why.
I hope to bring some more folks out this time. If the weather is truly nice, we'll have to arrange a BBQ one of these months.

HALIFAX ROCKS!
![]() so, someone made a thread about how some of the smaller cities and some of the cities who don't get as much recognition as the places with bigger orgs are being slighted. i happen to think ya'll should get more recognition. i want to thank you for organizing the protests in your city. i know that it must be much harder to show up with very few people and protest. every Anonymous protest is important. every anon who protests is vital. every anon who cannot make it to the protests, but who helps in other ways is vital. there is not one of us who is not an integral part of this movement. so, thank you very much for having your protests! day day, AnonMomAnon .

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Three of my friends came last time, i'm expecting six this time. It should be wicked.
I'm just not 100% sure i'll have the 10th off from work. And yeah, I like the idea of a BBQ at one of the upcomming events. Have a huge banner saying; "Scientology isn't free, but our hotdogs are." and offer them to the public. In exchange for say, a pamphlet. I think that, plus contacting The Coast/The Metro, as previously mentioned, would really get our word out better. Yeah? |

Okay, so I'm more than willing to copy a crap load of pamphlets and flyers from my office. Since we have a huge photocopier, it would all be free advertising, really.... So, if there are any specific flyers or pamphlets you guys want for the May protest, let me know, PM me or post back here and link me to the ones you want, and I'll copy them all up. I will 100% be there, and I am slowly recruiting friends (mostly ones who want to be there for lulz, but more people the better) so hopefully I'll be able to provide more things than just pamphlets and flyers. So let me know guys, it's slowly getting closer to the day, and we need some hype god dammit! |

If we're doing a barbecue, and I can get the day off for the event (Still up in the air :( ) I'll chip in. I'll help buy hotdogs, I'll help bbq them, etc etc.
And buns, we need buns. None of this "slice of bread" bullshit. |

Re: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Is anybody up to going out on say Saturday May 3rd and giving out flyers and stapling them to polls in Halifax? My Saturday is free in the afternoon and I can definitely get some flyers photocopied before Saturday, and even more for the protest....
Anybody with me? EDIT: I also happen to work at an office where we have a significant amount of faint yellow surgical masks on hand, and it wouldn't be out of the ordinary if a few went missing... If anybody doesn't have a mask or something similar, let me know and I can pick a few up and bring them with me if anybody wants one.... Also, am I the only one that's going to be wearing a shirt and tie? I think the more people looking like this the better - I'm female, so I won't be wearing the whole suit, but I'll see what I can do! AND is anybody half decent at Photoshop to make a poster about the protest next weekend specific to Halifax? I'd like to have those, specifically for handing out this weekend if someone'll humor me and get together with me. hah. Last edited by zombieduckv2; 04-29-2008 at 03:45 AM. |
