Re: Toronto, Ontario
I'm gonna repost my idea:
Protest information leaflet: A small flier with basic answers to common questions is to be handed out to each anon at the beggining of the protest. If anything gets planned to happen at a specific point during the protest (group singing, etc.) it can be put on this too (I was talking to one woman about it and there was talk of it in the 3/15 thread)

Re: Toronto, Ontario
It really sucked not having that half lane gap to use for taking pictures and shoot video. Is there any way we can get it back? I thought about getting those metal fences that link together, but I don't know where they come from or if we'd have to pay for them (seems like something the city might provide...?).
I won't be carrying signs about Fair Game because I think it's a terrible theme that Joe Public won't care about.

Re: Toronto, Ontario
I was kicking this idea around in the wrong thread..and it might not exactly go with the raid theme, but it would certainly turn some heads and be good for lulz.
I propose we attempt something like this to start the day: The effects it would have on the raid itself are secondary to what a good youtube video it could make. We shouldn't be too upset when mainstream media fails us. Mainstream media is terrified of the Internet, and we were born of this.

I hate pessimism, but I don't think there's much chance of the city letting us block a lane so we can take some pictures. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm thinking of maybe making a sign that says "People can follow whatever theology they want, but CoS is a criminal organization hiding behind religion" or something to that effect. Quote:
We are like the opposite of the Borg. The Borg were a collective with a single hive mind. We are a collective with our own individual, separate and often diverging interests. Edit 1: Forgot to add, we shouldn't just assume that Gregg is going to sign for us on every protest. I think that it's great that he's doing it and I think that he'll keep doing it, but I think that we should ask him each time or thank him or something. I don't think that we should just assume and act like we don't appreciate that he's helping out the cause. (Not that I think people feel that way, but still) Edit 2: We have decided as individuals to protest Scientology, and collaborated as a group. There wasn't some leader saying "hey let's do this" and everyone followed. There was probably someone that suggested the idea, but then everyone that followed that idea made up their mind that it was a good idea. Or that person would have been told to "murk loar" or "not your personal army." Last edited by AnonyMusty; 04-14-2008 at 04:39 AM. Reason: forgot to add |

If we are going to be passing out these information fliers to Anons, the info on them should be relevant to the current 'topic of the month' (having examples of court cases, individuals involved, etc) so that any Anon that speaks to the media will be able to have a basic idea of what's going on rather than a general sense of "Scientology is bad...mmm'kay?" There is too much info to just pass out fliers having 'general Scientology' information/talking points on it. We could include a couple of very basic talking points on the overall idea of why we are protesting without getting too much into specifics. We want to be able to give the media something new to talk about each time that we protest, so that it doesn't "get old" and there is a new angle for them to report about when they mention the protests. Maybe we should include a good short description of "what is anonymous" or maybe an advisory to not allow the media to get you into 'talking about anonymous' and talk about the topic at hand (which ever is decided to be the best). ====== That said, we should have two sets of fliers for the public. One that is 'general information' on Scientology and its crimes. And the other is information about the topic of the month. That way there is a general overview (and links to get even more info) and a quick collection of some semi-in-depth information on a specific topic relating to Scientology (and its crimes). Edit: Having two sets of fliers also gives us and excuses to re-flier people that may have already received a flier from us. We don't want to force it down people's throats, though. We could just make sure that we introduce it differently each time. Like, "Here's some information about Scientology's Fair Game policy," instead just, "Here's some information on Scientology." This way people who have already been flier'd can realize that this is different information than what they received last time. Just a thought. Last edited by AnonyMusty; 04-14-2008 at 04:25 AM. Why'd they give us the lane in March? I wasn't there for Feb, was the lane blocked then too?

Re: Toronto, Ontario
People also won't read a novel of a flier either. Megaphone might get us in trouble for too much noise? I dunno. We should look into it.

Cults are more about the organization of members and their rites than simply their beliefs. Modern cults follow certain patterns, such as segregating members from their families, conditioning them to think and behave according to rigorous guidelines or face punishment from the leader, secretive and exclusionary behaviour, and are founded by a charismatic sociopath who may not be questioned.
